It only took a moment for everything to go wrong. A little girl is hurt, but who is to blame?
I’m so happy as I walk to pick up my seven-year-old son from the birthday party. It’s his first since we moved here, and I know he’s found it hard settling in. Just as I’ve found it hard to make friends among the mothers at the school gates. But as I turn the corner, my heart stops when I see an ambulance.
I start to run. My son, is all I can think. I have to find my son.
As I race into the garden, desperately searching for my blue-eyed little boy, a fellow parent turns to me, her finger pointed. The words out of her mouth make my blood run cold.
“Your son did this. This is your fault.”
Surely that can’t be true? My son can be difficult, but I’d know if he was capable of hurting someone… Wouldn’t I?
As a little girl is lifted onto a stretcher, I feel my world come crashing down. My heart cracks in two for this poor child, her devastated family. Because there’s no coming back from this. An innocent girl has been hurt. My son is being blamed. But I’m his mother, and I’ll do whatever it takes to find out what really happened…
A totally gripping and emotional novel about trust, female friendship and betrayal. Perfect for fans of Jodi Picoult, Liane Moriarty and Susan Lewis.

I really enjoyed this story. When Eleanor’s daughter has a tragic accident at her own birthday party there are lots of incriminating facts and many versions about what happened before the truth comes to light.A story of friendships, family life and mothers love for their children and the parts they play in facing up to the facts that they all have their faults and sometimes they have to take a good look at themselves and eventually take responsibility for what happened. A really great read

A different genre for me that held my attention. However, it had an abrupt ending although there was an epilogue. I use Kindle on my iPad and it indicated almost 100 pages to go – all promoting other books by this author!

Great story
An accident at a childrenâs birthday party causes a rift between parents and children alike when a child ends up seriously injured. It seems there was only one witness to the accident and he doesnât want to talk even though heâs the one being blamed. This story digs deep into family dynamics and what can happen when assumptions are made. No family is without blame, though theyâd all like to think they are. Female friendships can be complicated, especially when children are involved, and this author does a great job portraying the different personalities of each character.Told from multiple POVâs, this is a gripping novel with a great storyline.

Pulls at your heart strings
I have read a few of Kate Hewittâs books. She really knows how to pull at your heart strings. Her books are always a quick, solid read for me. In the Blink of an Eye is no exception. This book gives so much thought to how much tragedy can happen in the blink of an eye. The job of a parent is never easy.Wetherby, CT is the perfect small town. Eleanor (Bellaâs mom) and Natalie (Freyaâs mom) are best friends. Eleanor seems to have the perfect life, two perfect children, an adoring husband and a beautiful home. It is Bellaâs birthday and her mom throws her a party and invites the entire grade, including a new student that is struggling to fit in and having behavior difficulties. Bella ends up face down in the pond and everyone jumps to conclusions on what happens. This story is the epitome of small town life where news travels fast and gossip spreads like wildfire. The relationship dynamics between the adults and children in the book are so relatable and feel real. They touch upon bullying, mental health, marriage issues, and so much more. I really enjoyed watching it unfold and the characters grow.

Accidents Happen in a Blink
Read 7/29/24. I love this author and her writing style!! She she leads the reader into every characterâs life, thoughts, strengths and weaknesses. In doing this her stories unfold in a more intimate and unified manner. This particular story was moving and had a complete ending that was resolving. People have to understand that accidents happen for various reasons and that perhaps like Vanessa said we all need and should own our parts that played into the accident. Unfortunately, we live in a society that the first inclination is to blame and then on to punishment. Read the book though. I donât believe you will be sorry!!!

Emotional
I really liked this book. I liked all the characters and really liked the different point of view of the three mothers. Very emotional at times, but I was hooked. Good ending. Love the writer’s style. Will read more of her books.

â¦
Slow-paced with three POVs yet wanted/needed to know what happened and who was truly to blame! I loved the self-awareness/reflection that the mother showed! Along with how important communication is within all relationships!
