Looking to boost toughness and confidence?
I have a nephew who is just starting to really get into sports, and I thought I would read this book to help him through some of the common struggles with self-doubt or when he is really being hard on himself. The book gives various affirmations focusing on grit and a positive frame of mind. This book is easy to follow, clear, and, I feel, relatable to teens. The tricky part of affirmations is remembering to use them regularly to have any effect. I feel this book would really help build a positive attitude and confidence. My only criticism is that some sections felt repetitive. Overall, it’s a good book.

I’m the mother of a male teen athlete, so I was drawn to this book, and it didn’t disappoint me or my son. The collection of affirmations contained in this book can help male teen athletes face challenges and societal pressures with a positive mindset. It helps them learn to use positive, affirming statements to build their resilience, confidence, and mental fortitude in sports, academics, social interactions, and more. The author has written a book that allows young athletic teens to recognize their worth, acknowledge their abilities, and learn how to bounce back from setbacks. I like how the author grouped the affirmations into four categories: focus, motivation, resilience, and personal growth, and addressed their benefits and how to use them.My son found the affirmation statements in this book helpful, so he jotted down a few of his favorites and posted them where he could see them regularly. He even set a daily reminder on his cell phone. If you have a male teen athlete or know of one, this book is a good resource for him and his teammates. I highly recommend it.
