One Shotgun Wedding + One Wrong Bride = One Big Mess
Duncan Archer doesn’t do relationships. He prefers buying a date over buying dinner for a date.
One night in Paris, he is set up to believe that the daughter of a French mob boss is his paid date. When she ends up pregnant, there’s no way out but marriage. First, Elsa is carrying his child. Second (or maybe first?), her father has a gun to his head.
Now, the eternal bachelor is expecting a baby, dealing with a violently criminal father-in-law, and coping with parents thrilled about becoming grandparents.
And his new bride? She’s sweet, strong, and surprisingly captivating. He can’t get enough of her both in and out of bed. She says she’s in love with him. He’s behaving like he’s in love with her and he doesn’t even know what that four-lettered word means. She’s scaring the life out of him.
Old habits die hard and in his attempt to protect his heart, Duncan doesn’t trust Elsa and does the one thing she begged him not to.
Too late, Duncan realizes that the wrong bride is actually the right wife. If he can’t win Elsa’s trust back, he could lose the two most important people in his life, his wife and their child.

4.5âï¸I find it difficult to put into words how much I enjoyed this story between Duncan and Elsa. There is so much nuance that goes into the telling of a love story especially when dealing with the scars of past hurts. I appreciated how this marriage of strangersrequired them to communicate in ways that felt out of depth and comfort. We often see the insecurities of the feminine paramour but in this instance, Duncanâs were just at the surface. Repeated miscommunications, distrust and hurts required a retrospection that felt delicate and real. The vulnerabilities these two shared as they navigated a new marriage and impending baby was beautiful but difficult to read, as it often came at the hurt of the other. But in reality, is it not how the world works? We hopefully learn from our mistakes and find the faith to take risks as we navigate romantic relationships. I loved that their journey rehired these raw moments where hard truths and choices had to made. And what it takes to truly share oneâs heart when it has been protected to the detriment of sharing it all.I loved the way Elsa refused to let Duncan share only pieces of himself. Andy how he gave her a sense of safety and security that she had never had (most especially since the loss of her mom).I had the privilege of reading an e-arc of The Wrong Bride by Maya Alden and, like her other works, it did not fail to disappoint. I cannot recommend it enough and am eagerly awaiting to see how Deanâs love story unfolds.

I just couldn’t put this book down! The story was so sweet, and I loved it. Elsa is such a strong woman facing all this chaos, and Duncan is trying his best to understand his feelings while supporting her. I can’t wait to read Dean’s story, but honestly, I’m looking forward to Vincent’s story the most.

Iâd been looking forward to Duncanâs book since reading The Wrong Husband. I am, unashamedly, a massive fan of Maya Alden – and this is one of my favourites from her. I just couldnât put it down, I finished the book within 24 hours. Instead of utilising my toddler free time to catch up on house work, do responsible adult things or even catch up with friends – I stayed in, and devoured this book. Itâs an easy read in the best way -Elsa is a great heroine, sheâs sweet and funny but strong and I found her really likeable (and sheâs a baker!) – Duncan, what can I say – youâll likely want to punch him, on multiple occasions but even with his flaws you end up rooting for him and I loved watching him realise his feelings.I canât wait for more

WOW! I donât know what to say, Iâm blown away. This book manages to combine heartbreak, growth, love and forgiveness with thrill, danger and drama in a way you physically canât lay down the book till your finished. I absolutely adore Elsa she is sweet, forgiving, with the biggest heart possible, but knows her worth and demands what sheâs due. She is gentle in her way, but in no way letâs herself get taken advantage of.The growth or transformation Duncan goes through was beautiful to witness, doesnât feel unrealistic or forced, nor felt it rushed.I absolutely love a book with good side characters and this book has some really good ones. There are probably a thousand more things to say, but just one thing: do yourself a favor and grab a copy, you will not be disappointed.

Like all of Maya’s books, this one grabbed me from the beginning. I love this type of book where the girl hears things, or is confronted by things that her boyfriend, fiance or husband says or does that leave her heartbroken but that have happy endings!

A storyline that reels you in hook, line, & sinker!
I counted the release of Duncanâs book down for what seemed like forever and it was so worth it! I loved every page! The storyline was so well written and took you on such a nice stretch through Duncan and Elsaâs lives.Duncan was such an intense MMC and I adored his character development throughout! Elsa was sweet with enough fire to keep Duncan on his toes, which added nicely to their love story! The plot had a nice twist here and there, a dash of intrigue, and enough additional storyline added by the supporting characters to bring this book to a nice end! I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book! Kudos to the author!

I enjoyed this book of Elsa and Duncan. Elsa was raised by her mom in a flat in Paris. Her father was part of the criminal world. Duncan is a wealthy businessman who sleeps with escorts. Elsa became one for one night ( explained why in book)and slept with Duncan. She is now pregnant and married to him. Will the marriage last?As usual Ms. Alden writes an amazing book. I enjoy her books because she writes amazing characters and I always see part of the world I will never get to visit. I received an ARC and this is my true opinion of the book. I loved it and I purchased a copy for myself. Get this and I know you will enjoy it. Set back, put your feet up and lose yourself in an amazing story! Thank you.

Wedding due to baby
This ended up being a sweet story. Which was unexpected given the circumstances for the marriage. If you arenât into Maya Aldenâs revenge stories(which I gobble up like a person in a pie eating contest) then you should definitely give this one try as it shows another side of her writing style.Throughout the story Duncan seems confused and distrustful of love. So the chorus from Whitesnakeâs song permeated my brainâ¦..âIs this love that I am feeling? Is this the love I have been searching for?Is this love or am I dreaming? This must be love, cause itâs really got a hold on meâElsa, our heroine takes a hold of Duncan after one night. He doesnât desire anyone else so it happens to be a hidden blessing that she got pregnant after that one night and he is forced to marry her. So the question is: Who fell first? I believe that they both fell at the same time, however, her heart was open to it and embraced it immediately, while Duncan was more reserved and in denial of his emotions. What does this story have?*Falling in love*France, with lots of French peppered in the story*sexy times*supportive family and friends(that arenât afraid to call out and guide the hero)*a criminal /intrigue element that is the cause of the betrayal*strong, successful, sweet virgin heroine*funny times*a hero who is trying to figure out the whole love thing, makes some mistakes, but sets out to fix the mistakes quickly*some jealousy*age gap 24h/34H*Epilogue!!!!What you wonât get?*no wicked owâs*no cheating*off the chart angst(the angst happens but itâs on the milder side, of course I am a little bit of an angst junkie so I may be off on this)I excitedly received this story as an ARC.

Anything written by Maya Alden is an automatic read for me. I love the writing, the characters, and the plots. The Wrong Bride didn’t disappoint and I had it read in 3 hours. The betrayal urghhhhh my heart hurt for Elsa. She is such a beautiful soul. But that grovel, and reading Duncan’s realization just…ah… Perfect.

The Wrong Wife is the second book in Marriage by Contract Series. I had really liked Duncanâs character in the previous book and was looking forward to reading his story. Duncan and Elsa were just perfect. Duncan and Elsa have a night and she ends up pregnant. When they met Duncan didnât know her father was in mafia and now she is pregnant her father wants both of them to marry. The story kept me hooked with well written plot and captivating characters. These two had chemistry but boy the mis communication and misunderstandings between these two I wanted someone to put some sense into these characters specially Duncan. It was nice seeing all of Duncanâs family. I enjoyed the story and read it in one sitting. Maya knows how to write captivating stories which are unputdownable. There has yet to be a book that I have read by Maya and not binge read and loved it . Highly recommend this book.
