At the heart of humanity
At the beginning of everything
Hope can be born… or destroyed

For months, Princess Lorraine Adamant has fled from star system to star system in a desperate attempt to evade the minions of her uncle, the man who murdered her entire family to seize power in the Star Kingdom of Adamant.

Thanks to the crew of her ship and her loyal bodyguard, Vigo Jarret, Lorraine has finally reached her goal: the homeworld, Earth. There, she plans to lay her case before the United Worlds, the oldest and greatest of humanity’s nations.

But to an ancient democracy, the trials of an obscure kingdom are hardly relevant. Lorraine must turn her mind from war to diplomacy, to convince the homeworld to honor its oaths and save her Kingdom.

One way… or another.

I am really engaged in this story and the characters. There is so much action going on but also a level of emotional engagement that makes the story so readable.

    Mike In Tokyo

I must admit that I was wondering where the plotline in the story was going to go. As ever, Glynn did not disappoint. A fabulous twist that makes March next year seem a very long way away. Definitely one of the top authors in this genre.

Glynn Stewart never disappoints with his writing always reaches the highest levels of enjoyment. Always presented with great characters returning from Book 1 and new ones adding depth to the plots. Always worth 5 Stars.

Like the first of the series a fast moving action book. The plot is easy to follow but getting my hard round all the characters (names/designations) took some time. Very enjoyable read looking forward to the next instalment.

Loving this newest series by Glynn and looking forward to seeing more if it next year! Well thought out character growth and a fairly unpredictable ending to this book, I had expected it to go another way.As an aside I love that he’s pulled some character names from things I know and love, a favorite being a reference to the City Watch books by Terry Pratchett

    Through Politics And Beyond
We find Lorraine much as I had expected in this book–determined still, but grappling with the costs and the work. We get some juicy bits of humanizing backstory all around and get to enjoy fiercely professional security services. From politics through to what happens when politics fails, a great read.

  7. Avatar of Chuck Woodbury

    great round 2
Politics, intrigue, and more adventures as Loraine Adamant seeks allies on earth, the seat of the oldest and most powerful star nation. If she fails there, there is a plan B, but that is nearly suicidal. Love the story, and very typical for Glynn Stewart., strong characters and interesting relationships. Can’t wait to see what happens.

    Good read
Well written tale of loyalty and deceit. More personal relationships are develop here. Add several self aware warships on the run to spice things up.

    Couldn’t put it down
I was cackling at times. Lots of serious moments but the author made time for humor an humanity.

    Another masterpiece
This is a wonderful addition to Glynn Stewart’s catalog of books and I enjoyed it very much. I am impatient for the next book to come out to find out what happens next with Lorraine Adamant and her new command. Five stars and highly recommend.

    Excellent
Made me read through lunch! It was a little slow to get started but the last half is “can’t put it down”. Thus is very good sci-fi. The science is real and believable, the plot surprising and the characters very human. It’s a good read. Enjoy.

Intelligent and Powerful Heroines! More Please!!!
Great read, and not just because I was once a naval officer! Glynn Stewart’s fiction is always action-packed, with interesting and diverse characters. I love reading about the strong, capable and compelling women in his stories. Sometimes his plot twists surprise, but I really enjoy his focus on character development across a wide range of Earth-based cultures, and his matter of fact acknowledgment of the range of human sexuality. This series delivers the first two House Adamant novels featuring Lorraine Adamant, Naval Officer, Pentarch and Royal Princess of the Kingdom of Adamantine. It’s because of writers like Glynn Stewart and Lindsay Buroker that I keep my Kindle Unlimited subscription.
