As a scruffy, disorganised daydreamer, Lucy Mayweather is like a fish out of water at the high-powered offices of her brother’s billionaire best friend. When she agreed to work for Felix, she had no idea quite how cut-throat his world – or he – would be. She just wanted to escape her reclusive life and be close to her childhood crush, hoping he might notice her.

But Lucy’s lonelier in London than she’s even been in her tiny village back home. The boy she grew up with has been replaced by a powerful, ruthless, extremely attractive man who doesn’t tolerate incompetence and who no longer seems to find Lucy’s quirks cute. Instead, he lectures her almost daily on her general crapness, and seems blind to the bullying she endures from his colleagues.

For Felix, agreeing to employ Lucy was a mistake. This shy bookworm with her head in the clouds, who wears tattered jumpers, carries multiple pens in her hair and has an obvious crush on him must be by far the worst assistant in London. But he’s always had a soft spot for the quirky little girl who lived in her own world and told the best stories. Well, now that little girl is all grown up… and he can’t stop thinking about her.

After Felix gives in to his bone-deep longing for his best friend’s little sister, he starts to feel more than he has in years. But Lucy has secrets, and Felix has trust issues. When his inability to trust her leads to a terrible betrayal and places Lucy in danger, Felix is faced with losing her forever. Because the new, hardened, traumatised Lucy is nothing like the daydreaming pushover she once was…

This is a full length, brother’s best friend, grumpy billionaire boss romance.

Trigger warning for workplace harassment and assault.

Warning – there is swearing throughout this book.

Been meaning to get this book, had a day off so downloaded and so glad I did. This story is one of innocence and understanding, with a variety of characters that keep you reading, in one sitting for me.Lucy is a dreamer and her sweetness I found to be a lovely break from the hardness of reality. She is scatty, love thd use of doolally, something my nan would say. Felix is a sweetheart wrapped with a harder shell, most of us are just looking for a Felix! This story isn’t a simple read where they fall and it’s done, there is a deeper story that comes through. I genuinely had a little tear reading it. I’d highly recommend this book, spoiler there is a trigger for work violence but it’s needed for the story.Loved this book and can’t wait to read another one from this author ❤️

    Day Dreaming Away
After seeing some fun recommendations, I was eager to try a book between a woman with a passion for writing otherworldly adventures and the business man she had loved since she was a kid. I think I came in over-expecting, which kind of ruined the hype I thought I would get from this page turner.Lucy is very much the shy country girl who doesn’t really like sturing the pot, so to speak. It was hard for me to like her at moments because she felt so contradictive. At one moment she would have thoughts of how self absorbed Felix was to the point he never actually showed interest in her other than physical. The next moment he was loving, passionate and caring; just like how they were when they were kids. The rose glasses were INTENSE with this girl. Despite this, she was overall an enjoyable character with a passion for story telling and had a cute feel to her.Felix and everyone else drove me nuts in many ways. There was certainly a lot of sexism in the work place environment where Felix was head partner of. This boy in a man’s body knew how to get on my nerves, constantly telling Luce how unworthy she was, that she slacked off and how his treatments towards her was for her own good. Even later when we get his backstory, I still disliked him. He was pushy, threw the word love around like it was a game, didn’t give a crud about knowing who Lucy really was and just kept falling back to negative habits and reminiscing his childhood memories with her.Her friends and family made me frustrated, too, when they kept pushing her to just forgive him. He made a boy who made a mistake when he betrayed her later in the story, which cause all sorts of trauma to her mindset and viewpoints. Some of the people who later become her friends don’t even feel like they deserve to be. They just go on acting like oops my bad for being a completely toxic arse, but now we are friends and I care about you.The build up through the story was good. The betrayal caused by misunderstandings, manipulations, and other sorts, made the fallout of these two love birds feasible. The harm and turmoil felt realistic and relatable in ways. The groveling was well planned, though the family and friends making it seem like he should get a free pass, took away from the intense bonding Felix worked hard to achieve once more with Lucy. Lastly, the space he gave our leading lady eventually while still trying to make sure she cared for herself, was plesant.

    Romance/Comedy
I absolutely loved reading the book “daydreamer’ by Susie Tate. The story had so much life and love to it. The characters were warm and lovable. It was such a fascinating story that the reader didn’t know what was going to happen next. It had all the up and downs that real life has, with the good times and the bad. Lucy and Felix had grown up together because her mother had been Felix’s nanny. Felix had such a cruel and obnoxious father that Felix had spent more time at her house than he had at his. Her brother Mike and Felix were best friends, but Felix and Lucy had always had a special bond. She could always cheer him up by telling him one of her stories. He left their small town to get away from his overbearing father as soon as he was old enough and Lucy missed him terribly. He had gone on to be a successful businessman in London and Lucy had become a bestselling author of her stories. But Felix was not aware of this when one day Lucy left her small town to come and find Felix. She got a job at his company just so that she could be around him. Her mother asked Felix to look after Lucy and he mistakenly thought he was supposed to teach her a career in business. Lucy does not correct him and tell him that she already has a successful career which leads into a funny and charming series of events. The book was very enjoyable.

    Funny, entertaining, and loveable book.
This book is so good. I loved the characters. Lucy and Felix make a wonderful couple. She is a daydreamer and he is a CEO. They were childhood friends, along with her brother. She turns her daydreams into books and he has no idea because he left their small town before she was grown. She goes to work for him, but is not good at her job. LoL he tries to help her acclimate to the world, never knowing how famous her books are. She is shy and he is like in your face. They compliment each other. He loves her and she loves him. But, she’s afraid to tell him and he don’t realize it. He’s possessive and overbearing but in a good way. I love when they finally get together. It’s a true love story with some bumps along the way. I could read this book over and over.

    Wordy but Worth Reading
This was a well written well crafted book. The characters were believable . The settings lifelike. It’s clearly written to Immerse the reader in England. So some of the phrases took a bit of thinking and context to understand which threw off the natural flow for this American reader. I also found myself extremely irritated with the female main character Lucy throughout a large part of the book. If it hadn’t been for the educational aspect of her condition and all the humour I probably wouldn’t have finished it.Feeling irritated by a fictional character and wanting to set them straight is one of the hallmarks of a very good book.In the end I didn’t give it 5* because it felt too long. At many times in the book , even when I had just finished laughing , I would think ” when’s this book going to end” . All in all it’s a good book.

    Delightful!
I laughed, I cried and was thoroughly charmed by this story! The author created interesting characters and writes with a sense of humor. The storyline is paced fast enough to build anticipation and emotion in the reader. I even found myself teary eyed during one emotional incident between the main characters! I highly recommend this book for a fun escape as well as a lesson in how to curse without cursing! 😂
