A barrage of ice meteors streaks through the void, targeting every colony and even Earth herself. The devastating force of these nearly invisible projectiles is sudden and catastrophic. Devin Starn’s Red Company and the seasoned crew aboard the Borag are called upon to assist. Initially tasked with providing emergency services, they soon find themselves on a perilous mission to join forces with the Earth Navy in hunting down the source of these deadly attacks.
The terrifying precision of the strikes—systematically targeting vulnerable human populations with unerring accuracy—suggests a sinister intelligence behind the scenes. As the Solar System teeters on the brink of disaster, it becomes clear that someone or something is orchestrating humanity’s extermination.
Can Red Company stop this unknown enemy’s plans, or is the downfall of human civilization inevitable? Discover the truth in the thrilling fifth installment of the Red Company series: STEEL RAIN.

In the last couple of entries Devin and Red company have learnt that humanity is not alone. There is a shadow war going on in the outer system. Ancient hidden alien bases, old tech and other mysteries that only make outer space more dangerous. Good action as the marines of Red company take on the cyborgs at bad breath range. Devin finds himself being played by the ship’s accountant and he is not the only one. He makes some bad life choices in this one in my opinion. Throwing away a stable relationship for some one who is obviously playing him will only come back to haunt him. The internal conflicts of the senior officers comes to a head leaving slots to fill. I enjoyed it.

A continued growth of the main characters, revealing new aspects and insights. Plenty of action, but not always clear the motivations.
