Nature Therapy is a collection of poetry based on the most inspiring passages from Scott Stillman’s works.
A blend of raw beauty and heartbreaking vulnerability, Stillman’s poetry is a profound exploration of what it means to feel deeply. Each verse guides us toward a deeper understanding of our place in the universe, and the healing potential that nature offers the weary soul.
“we are born with playfulness—
and play we will
until we’re taught that life is serious
there are very important things to be done
and we must focus not on the present
but on the future
happiness is stolen from us
and projected to an imaginary place
that we can never reach
we become lost in the illusion
that happiness resides in the future
a practical joke
we’ve played on ourselves”

Must read
I bought this book for my husband, here is what he had to say about itI picked a nice place on my south facing front porch, book in hand, dog on the floor, sunshine and slight wind out of the northwest, 57 degrees. I’m ready. In the words of “The Boy Wonder – Robin”………”Holy Crap, Batman!!” I’m not sure what place you were in when you scribed this gem, but I’m thinking it was dark. Hey, we’ve all been there as you stated in the book. You have always had the uncanny ability to use your style of writing, to place the reader right beside in your trekking. You not only paint a Visualization, but you create an avenue for us to feel, smell, and taste the journey. But, this one penetrates the depths of the mind. Yep, I was right there beside you when you dove into the abyssopelagic zone of the Mariana Trench. In “descent” that is exactly what I experienced…..limited ability of my arms and legs, pockets full of rocks, descending deeper and deeper. First experiencing crushing of the chest, then pressure encapsulating my head, and of course panic. Is this the way I’m going to go through my miserable life til’ I hit the bottom? Or will I be fortunate (or unfortunate enough) to be devoured by an anscestor of the dinasours, like a Viperfish, simply because he is hungry? But then, instead of giving into my depression and demise as I sink slowly towards the sandy bottom, I find the fight/fight strength to being to move my arms. Empyting my pockets of ballast, then my legs kicking an sending me to the surface (this journey know as “passage” in your book. I use the remainder of air my lungs and finally break through to the surface, gasping, crying, sheer elation! And instead of wildly stroking my way back to shore, I instead decide my immdiate task at hand is to relax, float on my back, look to the sky, be a peace…….(emergence). Yep, my friend you had me totally immersed (pardon the pun) in this one. So, what were my immediate reactions after putting your book down? Grab the pooch, my backpack, and head off into the fresh air and sunny Fall day to reflect and get myself back to where I belong…..at peace. THANK YOU SCOTT.
