Everyone Lilith touches dies. She has lived her entire life running from the grim reaper, who has followed her relentlessly since birth. He watches her from the shadows, and though he seems set on stealing everyone from her life, he refuses to allow her to take her own.

When Lilith gets a job as a bartender at a Voodoo Steakhouse, her shadowy demon companion leaves her in peace for four blissful years. It isn’t until one of her colleagues passes away in a horrible accident, that she begins to fear he has returned, and this time, she may not be able to escape him.

Deathtrap is the first book in a dark romance interconnected series. This book explores very dark themes and has an extensive list of trigger warnings. If you are not familiar with the dark romance genre, it is recommended that you proceed with caution. This book is not suitable for everyone. 18+

I have been waiting for this since the second it was announced! It did not disappoint. Yet again Alex had me on the edge of my seat screaming, crying, throwing up! I cried several times (we are not surprised). I struggled to put this book down to get life things done and when I didn’t manage it, all I could do was think about it! Top read of 2024 for sure! If I could give it 6 stars I would!

BE MINDFUL OF THE TRIGGER WARNINGS AND AUTHOR’S NOTE. Your mental health matters. This is an ARC review. Thanks Alex for the e-Arc. The first person he killed in her life was her Mom. The Reaper has stalked Lilith her entire life killing everyone she ever loved. She belongs to him, but why? He’s stalked her for her entire life, to prepare her for something, that he will fight her tooth & nail on, but what is it?I don’t even know where to start. I have been out of my Dark Romance era for a minute and wasn’t sure how I felt about grabbing one. I wasn’t even sure about this book until about 45% of the way through, honestly, that’s a me problem since I’m a mood reader…but boy, am I glad that I stuck with it. I felt like it was a little bit slow in the first half, but everything that happens in that slow piece comes together in the second half and starts to make sense.Once I got through the first half of the book, things took on a much quicker pace and everything started moving, and moving quickly. I got severe whiplash- thanks Alex- but ’twas a good pain.If you’re into Dark Romance, this could be the book for you to pick up next but again, make sure you are mindful of the triggers and the author’s note at the beginning. She’s very honest about what is contained within these pages. I’ve not had a book that made me regret not filming myself reading because of all of the AUDIBLE reactions that I had to this story. What a ride. My dogs (who like naps) are grateful that I have finished this book, but my little heart is not.I need to gush a second about a couple of the characters that I probably shouldn’t like as much as I did. Reaver- GIVE ME HIM NOW(actually- prison if in real life HA!) and Mike? My sweet, sweet Chef Mike- we love him. Shem, a mischievous dink that likes to leave people on the edge of what might happen next, we love him too.Alex, congratulations on another wonderful story written by your own chaotic brain! You know that I can’t wait for more from one of my auto buy authors.

    I LOVVEEDDD IT!!!
I LOVED this book! This book is SPICE, its love, its hate, and the story line is just fantastic, and I cried a couple times. This was very well written and honestly I couldn’t get enough. I never ordered a book so fast, and I cannot wait until the second one comes out.

Like all of Alex’s books this was an easy 5-star rating. I would give it 10 if I could. Unlike all of Alex’s books, this one was dark AF. I have never been more serious about telling you to CHECK YOUR TRIGGER WARNINGS. But also please understand that the writing is just so incredible and everything was handled so beautifully. Nothing felt gratuitous. This had all the character dynamics and banter and humor and tears and drama and edge-of-your-seat excitement that I have come to expect (and love) from this author. I am possibly the world’s slowest reader and I breezed through this because I just could not put it down. I also had that glorious moment where I thought I had everything figured out and I was so proud of myself, and then I looked down and saw that I was only at 30%. LOLThere was so much detail- I have aphantasia and cannot visualize when I read, so I love when an author is super descriptive because the words paint a picture that my brain cannot. I felt like I could “see” every page of this story. When descriptive language is missing in a book, which is often the case with dark romance, my mind wanders and I just focus on the dialogue so if that is lacking too, it kills a story for me. Fortunately, Alex excels at both- this book had incredible dialogue and banter that made me actually laugh out loud a few times and make any number of involuntary squeaks and… sounds. I don’t know how else to explain it, it was just super engaging to read.It is surprising to me that this is her first paranormal/dark romance but she is obviously a very talented writer because it never felt forced or uncertain. Her voice was so clear. Again, 10/10. Can’t wait to immediately read it again- and with a TBR a mile long, that is saying something!

    ONE MILLION STARS
I mean….WOW.I am truly BLOWN AWAY.It was such an honor to get to read thIs ARC. This was my first read by Alexandra St Pierre and it will Never be my last!the story is compelling, well thought out and truly captivates you, Leaving you turning each page with anticipations and angst. It will make you laugh, cry, full of rage, break your heart, and sew the pieces back together very intricately.Alexandra’s writing is absolutely BRILLIANT. Each page flowed effortlessly, and the way she set up the foreshadowing’s, poetic flow, and historical moments, past revelations was exquisitely done. Its very rare I find an author that I feel like I could literally be soulmates with, I found that with Julia E McColgan and I feel those feels with Alexandra St Pierre. I felt like I could feel her personality through her story telling, included with the quotes on each chapter depicting what’s to come in that section, and definitely through her characters ALLLL while simultaneously having the characters have so much depth and shine with their own distinct qualities. I mean seriously, this was done so well.Characters:Shem: Full of banter, with a charismatic attitude, but also ruthless, hilarious, playful and loyal.Lilith: Tired soul, but also Strong, Fierce, courageous, feels deeply and just absolutely extraordinary.Ramel: Obsessed, unhinged, loyal, baddie, devoted and also undeniably DADDDYNow,This is not a light read, and I highly suggest reading the trigger warnings and checking tropes before hand, because this may not be for everyone. However with that being said…it was for me.With as degrading and dark as many scenarios were they also were deep, complex and nurturing in one way or another, and the contrast between intertwining that was expertly done.I want to say a HUGE BRAVO.Hands down one of my favorite reads of the year and in my top 5 favorite books ever!PHENOMENAL. INCREDIBLE. TRULY BREAKTAKING. 1 MILLY STARS
