Each player’s story in this book includes personal anecdotes that make them relatable and inspiring, stories go beyond just their on-field achievements, that’s a good thing as you don’t find it in books of that type, It’s a great way to humanize these legends and inspire young readers.

A great pick for any young baseball fan! The book kicks off with profiles of legendary players like Ruth, Aaron, and Mays. In the chapters that follow, this book truly shines. I loved going over the George Brett pine tar incident – stories like that really make you appreciate the tradition of this game. The addition of quizzes and interactive components is a nice touch, which makes it less than just a passive read. This is a great book for kids who are just learning about the game of baseball. If you like baseball and are anywhere between 9 years of age or maybe even up to being 90, there is likely something for everyone to enjoy.

Wonderful introduction to the game of baseball
This book was very entertaining and extremely well written book for this genre. About half the book is filled with little biographies of players young people should know about. It takes you from Puerto Rico, the Negro Leagues and players getting their starts in several different parts of America. About half-way through the book changes up and puts paragraph length factors on various factoids: pitchers, hitters, food at the ballpark, changes of being hit by a foul ball. This is then followed up by a quiz and a matching section to make the book more interactive. All and all I found the book easy and fun to read and I’d guarantee that young fans will learn a few things about what came before them.

Good addition to the classroom library
I got this book to add to my classroom library, and I can tell you that it’s been a popular addition. My students have enjoyed learning more about some of the game’s legends and incredible moments/facts many have never heard of. From an educational point of view, the Brain Games and Trivia section at the end is challenging, especially in the scenario section, where the students have to use their baseball knowledge to strategize how best to deal with the situation presented. This provided exciting discussions among the students. Overall, the book is popular with the students, including those new to the game and those with some experience.

    Excellent Introduction
This book is a good introduction to the game of baseball, but it’s more than that. There is a section that talks about key players throughout history and that are active today. The book includes a few different quizzes, a nice, engaging activity. The best part, in my opinion, was the chapter on “Amazing Facts, Legends, and Moments.”

It’s a fantastic way to ignite a passion for baseball while teaching valuable lessons about perseverance and sportsmanship.
