You Weren’t Supposed To See That is a collection of the most popular, hard-hitting, and informative posts from Joshua Brown’s Reformed Broker blog.

There are secret ways of seeing the world of finance that every investor should know.

Overlooked things that tip the balance from failure to success.

Hidden truths that make the critical difference between understanding the world and being dangerously naive.

And surprising realities that determine whether or not you and your family are on the path to generational wealth.

In You Weren’t Supposed to See That, Downtown Josh Brown―the original Wall Street blogger, star of CNBC’s Halftime Report, and manager of billions of dollars as CEO of Ritholtz Wealth Management―collects and shares the most important of these secrets.

Drawing on 15 years of The Reformed Broker, the most-read financial blog in the world, Josh revisits, updates, and expands on the best of his wildly popular writing. As he does so, he helps you to discover all the most important, surprising, and sometimes painfully true secrets of finance, investing, and Wall Street that you need to know to thrive today.

John Bogle With a Sense of Humor
The book consists of reprinted blog posts Josh has written in the past 15 years and after each post, he gives current analysis on the topic. Each chapter reads like an essay. I enjoyed the format. He’s got a great sense of humor, like John Bogle with a joy buzzer. Some of the material can go over your head if you’re not a financial industry insider. That said, it’s well written.

    A fabulous read!
Josh Brown is one of the greatest writers and commentators about the modern financial business and investment and wealth management. Love his direct, honest and unpretentious style. A must read book for all in and around the financial business. I read it on Kindle but will be buying it in hardcover too to read again and keep.

Seams of pure gold in this book, and not where you might expect……………….
I watch Mr Brown on CNBC often and those appearances led me to buy this book (I’ve never read the blog on which it is based). The author has a Master’s Degree in Common Sense, which, in my 40+ years of working in corporate America I can assure everyone is the rarest of qualifications. Moreover, he has tremendous insight into the TRENDS that are driving the accumulation of wealth in this country. This to me is what makes this book so valuable. The book will undoubtedly make you money if you take his suggestions. Why is it sometimes much better to do nothing than something? Why are people investing at an unprecedented level than previously? (no, it’s not because they have more money). One chapter alone is worth twice the price of the book – “American Gods.” a 6 page Sociology thesis that explains more than many a textbook about what is happening to our country and why. I will say as an ex-pat Brit now a New Yorker that Josh can sometimes come across as a know-it-all from Long Island and I’ve run into his type many times. They can be annoying, but occasionally you find one who is RIGHT. Mr. Brown is one of them. The book is a 5 star road to building wealth. Get it.

    No Surprise
It’s no surprise that Josh has put out a great book here. I’m always interested in who these authors are. Although I was very familiar with him from all his discussions on CNBC, the book cements all previous thoughts regards who Josh is. All positive thoughts. Now he shows mastery of all nuances regards markets. But more, he is very able to communicate it too in forceful, serious, professional means, with an occasional dose of humor! He is on your side and works hard to prove it. Thanks Josh Brown!

there are very few new good investment books. Interesting read.
Its Josh- Rah Rah, but if you got it flaunt it I guess. Much history which takes away from “new investment books” aspect. Risk is too risky. More things run on momentum rather than fundamentals. Summary- ignore the noise- buy and hold.

Finance Made Fun: The Best of Josh Brown!
Josh’s writing style is refreshing as he manages to distill complex financial concepts into easily digestible nuggets of wisdom, all while keeping you entertained with his signature wit and irreverent humor. It’s like having a conversation with your smartest, funniest friend who just happens to be a financial genius. What sets this book apart is Josh’s brutal honesty and willingness to pull back the curtain on the often murky world of Wall Street finance. He doesn’t just give you the what; he gives you the why, helping you understand the trends and forces shaping wealth accumulation in America. One of the standout chapters, “American Gods,” is worth the price of admission alone. In just six pages, Josh delivers a sociological masterpiece that explains more about our country’s current state than most textbooks. It’s like he’s taken a sociology degree, distilled it into a shot glass, and served it up with a twist of financial acumen. Josh Brown has taken the complex world of finance and delivered a page-turner that’s as entertaining as it is educational. It’s packed with invaluable insights, hilarious anecdotes, and enough common sense to make you feel like a Wall Street insider. Five stars? Nah, this book deserves a whole constellation!
