This one was particularly feel-good. Now I have to know what happens with Jay and Sam… what kind of trouble is he in?!

Another exciting story from Alex Scarrow in a series that never lets me down. A woman vanishes. She has an abusive husband. Her stepson despises her. Boyd and his team have reason to suspect murder. The case pans out with discovery after discovery leading to an ending I didn’t expect. And there’s definitely something going on with Okeke’s partner, Jay. A hugely enjoyable read.

I couldnât put it down. It was great to spend time with Boyd, Okeke and the team as well as Charlotte and Ozzie. Like being with friends. The story was fast paced and kept me on the edge of my seat. Canât wait for the next installment.

The Vanishing
Enjoyed that! DCI Boyd, I do enjoy watching him work, even if it’s only in my mind. Alex Scarrow’s police Procedural’s are always lovely but this has bee one of the best.

fun read
Boyd is guy with a lot of personal baggage — most of it undeserved. Its great to see him loosening up and going for what’s right rather than what is merely the law.

Part of it was pretty good
It’s really hard to review this book without dropping a spoiler. Let me just say that the first 70% was a really good mystery. And then the whole thing turned into a cartoon. In terms of movies of my era, Humphrey Bogart suddenly changed into the Marx Brothers. I skipped to the ending, and sure enough, it worked out exactly the way I expected. There are so many other ways Mr. Scarrow could have developed the story that I was really quite disappointed. I’ve enjoyed several of his other books, and I’m sure there are folks who will enjoy this one. It just wasn’t what I expected, or wanted to read, at all.

Excellent
I’ve read all of the books in this series and they just seem to get better. Can’t wait for the next one.

Surprises Galore!
The book about a missing woman. Or is she? The team is looking into a missing woman case. But they discover that thereâs more to the story. It could be a murder case. I enjoyed how the team worked this case. And that ending! I look forward to the next book. Beth P.

Dreaming of Greece
The story leaves you wanting more and then comes a glorious twist and you start all over again. What a great twist to a well written police case. Great characters to love or hate.

Delightful!
How wonderful to read a police procedural without drugs, criminal gangs, gruesome tortures, murders, and awful mayhem for a change. And yet a simple missing persons case had me glued to the tablet to find out what happens next. And a few happy endings with a cliffhanger leading to the next book. Can’t wait. Scarrow’s writing is seamless and a joy. Love Ozzie!!
