Red, White & Royal Blue meets The Nightmare Before Christmas in a sexy, quirky rom-com where the golden-hearted Prince of Christmas falls for the totally off-limits Prince of Halloween.

Nicholas “Coal” Claus used to love Christmas. Until his father, the reigning Santa, turned the holiday into a PR façade. Coal will do anything to escape the spectacle, including getting tangled in a drunken, supremely hot make-out session with a beautiful man behind a seedy bar one night.

But the heir to Christmas is soon commanded to do his duty: he will marry his best friend, Iris, the Easter Princess and his brother’s not-so-secret crush. A situation that has disaster written all over it.

Things go from bad to worse when a rival arrives to challenge Coal for the princess’s hand…and Coal comes face-to-face with his mysterious behind-the-bar hottie: Hex, the Prince of Halloween.

It’s a fake competition between two holiday princes who can’t keep their hands off each other over a marriage of convenience that no one wants. And it all leads to one of the sweetest, sexiest, messiest, most delightfully unforgettable love stories of the year.

It may only be September but I’ve already fallen headfirst into holiday romances, so it only felt right to spread the love to Halloween. This book, I don’t even know where to begin, my heart is just overflowing with love for this story. When the heir to the throne of Christmas, Prince Nicholas (Coal) comes home from college on winter break the last thing he expects is the announcement of his engagement to his best friend, Princess Iris of Easter. If that wasn’t bad enough the heir to Halloween, Prince Hex, shows up to fight for the princess and the Easter alliance. As Coal finds himself drawn to Hex he has even more reason to find a way out of this wedding. But will he be able to save Christmas and get his happily ever after before the Christmas Eve deadline? This book is being compared to Red, White & Royal Blue which did make me a bit weary as in the aftermath of Red, White 7 Royal Blue’s success any book with an enemies to lovers or a political/royal plot line was described this way and very few actually lived up to this comparison. But this book totally lives up to this and then some. More than anything this story made me feel the same way I did when I first read Red, White & Royal Blue, all the joy and love just made me lose myself in this story. I was laughing and doing my evil little rom-com cackles, which is always the sign of a book I’m going to treasure. At the core of this story was a wonderful cast of characters with relationships so real they just leapt off the page, I found myself wishing I could be friends with them. There is a sequel already in the works and I’m impatiently craving it, but in the meantime, I’ll have to be content re-reading this book and falling deeper in love.

    A Fun Holiday Read
3.5 rounded up.Compared to Red, White, and Royal Blue mixed with A Nightmare Before Christmas, I was very excited to dive into this one!I really enjoyed all of the central characters and their varying personalities and I found the politics of all of the holidays very intriguing. The story did plateau a bit for me in terms of the conflict just ~existing~ and not really changing or escalating in any meaningful way and the “rivals to lovers” aspect was extremely lacking. As some other reviewers have said, this story would most likely translate much better to film! For all you open door fans, this one does get pretty 🔥🥵

Prince of Christmas makes out with the Prince of Halloween in a bar alley
What if each holiday had a royal family? And what if those royal families all had responsibilities and duties to uphold? And what if all of those get thrown out the window the minute the Prince of Christmas makes out with the Prince of Halloween in a bar alley? This book was so much more than I expected. We got political intrigue, complex relationships, and a sweet forbidden romance all in one. This is the kind of book you’ll want to read while sipping cocoa next to the Christmas tree.I’m already looking forward to our next holiday royals story!!

    Queer romance
This was a lot of fun to read it’d like a cozy romance with magic and kinda mythical characters lol. So in this world the mc Coal is a prince of Christmas because his dad is Santa. Each holiday is a kingdom I guess so Hex the love interest is the prince of Halloween. One of the side characters is the princess of Easter and it’s interesting, a bit silly but fun. He and Coal meet each other again while going along with an arranged fake relationship/ marriage plan that the mc’s dad planned. As Coal and Hex spend time with others, they are attracted to each other and also discuss themes like grief, anxiety and joy during holidays etc. Coal’s dad Santa kinda sucks and is going a while lot of things that are sucking the joy out of holidays. I enjoyed the romance it was good I thought they had chemistry, history and cute moments. I thought the writing was charming with all the things each character did relating to the holiday they represented. This book is similar to red white and royal blue the show( not the book). There were lots of parallels with scenes and characters that I liked. There’s a bit of steam but not too much. Overall this light and fun queer romance read especially for fall.Read for:- Queer romance- Bisexual mc- Holiday themed plot- Magic- Fantasy- Rival holiday princes- Royalty

    Quirky and Fun Holiday Rom-Com
The Nightmare before Kissmas is a delightful and quirky read.Nicholas “Coal” Claus is a bit of a screw up. As a Prince of Christmas and heir to the Christmas holiday, Coal only wants to help people. But whenever he tries, he tends to make things worse. When an unanticipated engagement announcement goes out to the Holidays about Coal and Iris, an Easter Princess, Halloween is not pleased. Turns out Coal has met the Prince of Halloween, Hex, before, in a drunken make-out session behind a bar on one of his lowest nights. But the two had a spark, and Coal hasn’t stopped thinking about the encounter ever since. Now Hex is in the North Pole and challenging Coal for Iris’s hand, even though neither of them really want to get married to Iris, and she isn’t exactly thrilled with the plan either. The Princes must now compete for a marriage of convenience none of them want, but also have to keep their hands off each other lest it end up in the Holiday tabloids. With the fate of the holidays and the magic in jeopardy, will the princes follow their duty, or their hearts? This was a fun and sorta kitschy little read, but was a delight and a fantastic escape. Set in our real world, with magical Holiday royals, this was a delightful rom-com with lots of fun holiday details. The queer representation was great, with many of the main characters as bi, and the main romance was MM. It centered a lot on the popular Christian mainstream holidays, which is fine, but may leave some readers feeling a bit left out or confused. However the main driver of the story is the unwanted marriage of convenience, and the developing romance between Coal and Hex. The writing is very conversational, and not too deep, so it is easy to get into this book. The premise is a little ridiculous, but makes for a great bit of holiday escapism, especially in the fall and winter. This book would be perfect for an evening to destress, with a cup of hot cocoa and some leftover Halloween candy.Thank you so much to NetGalley and to Tor Publishing Group/Bramble for the advanced copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

    Must Read
Fair warning, The Nightmare Before Kissmas will result in premature holiday decorating if read outside the Halloween/Christmas season. You will fall in love with the Princes of Christmas and Halloween as well as their love for their holidays. Quite simply, this book is an absolute delight. I don’t know the last time I smiled or giggled as much as I did while reading this book. I have to say bravo Raasch – you’ve simultaneously given me a new favorite romance book and new favorite comfort holiday read. I challenge anyone to read this and not adore Cole’s character. In general, this book really shines with the characters. I loved the friendship trio of Cole, Kris, and Iris. Hex is a Halloween delight, and I am obsessed with how he uses his holiday to mess with Kris. Be prepared for one liners that absolutely sleigh and great pop culture references. Despite the cozy nature of the read, it deals with some surprisingly heavy topics surrounding abandonment and grief. I both eyeball and audiobook read this and hands down can’t recommend the audiobook enough. Ellis Evans nails the narration. You can fully feel Coal’s anxiety, stress, excitement, and every other emotion experienced throughout the book with Evan’s excellent narration. I also felt that it made the story really come to life and added an extra level to some of the truly fantastic puns. Again, I can’t recommend this story and especially the audiobook enough.
