For lovers of Nicholas Sparks, a heartwarming romance about a young woman whose dreams seem too big to let love into her life, until she receives an unexpected package from an old flame a decade after circumstances tore them apart.

Who says you can’t rewrite the stars?

It’s 1962 when Tennessee-native Jack Bennett meets out-of-towner Ellie Spencer. He quickly falls head-over-heels for the young woman whose greatest love has always been the stars…until Jack. As their summer romance blooms, so does their determination to be together despite the circumstances that threaten to keep them apart. But just when Jack thinks their future is certain, their romance is cut short by forces beyond their control.

Twelve years later, Dr. Elizabeth Spencer, now a renowned professor of astronomy, receives a mysterious package. Inside is a novel about a young man and woman who meet at the water’s edge and fall madly in love over one magical summer. As she immerses herself in the pages, Ellie realizes this is no ordinary story—it’s their story. And hidden among the tales of star-gazing and stolen kisses is a detail that has her questioning everything. Seeking the truth, Ellie returns to the water’s edge. But is it too late, or can the love story Jack penned bring them back together in time to rewrite the stars?

Buck Turner is a new author to me and I thoroughly enjoyed his story. This is a bit of a departure from the books I usually read and I’m so glad I took a chance on this one. It’s a sweet romance, well written and has totally pulled on my heartstrings and I think both Jack and Ellie will stay with me for some time.Jack and Ellie were made for each other. They met over a summer break at the ages of 18 and 19 and quickly fell in love making plans for a future together but as soon as they’d found love they’re torn apart. Can time, destiny, fate and a little bit of compromise reunite them? I just loved this and I couldn’t put it down.“You don’t find love. It finds you. It’s got a little bit to do with destiny, fate and what’s written in the stars.” Anais Nin.

    Moving and heartfelt
This was a tender, innocent love story that has depth of character with several twists. It was a bit slow in the beginning but then I couldn’t put it down. Reading The Keeper of the Stars was like chicken soup for my soul. Excited to read more from Buck Turner.

    Sweet Second Chance Romance
This book is a sweet young adult to-midlife romance with a summer of memories and a life of decisions. This book reads in certain parts like “The Notebook,” but it is a story of its own. I found the second-chance romance and the subsequent happy ending delightful, but the heartbreaking parts are the most memorable. I liked the opposites and the friends to lovers. While the first parts of the book are utterly enthralling, the third part had me rolling my eyes cause, yet again, difficult decisions almost tore their new love apart. However, they finally persist and get their happy ending, and the book begins where it all started. The prologue of this book starts with a man reminiscing about his life and a house. We get some essential drops to lead us into the story. We have yet to find out who this main character is. We meet Jack, who is young and adventurous. George and Jack have an intriguing relationship as employer and friend, and both of them draw you into this story. Jack is just a young man still living at home and working hard to be something one day. Of course, his modest life gets upset by an enchanting lady, Ellie.Ellie is a city girl visiting her aunt. She is also a college student studying astronomy. She is down to earth but less outdoorsy than Jack. The first part of this is set in the summer on the water. It has free and wild vibes. The story begins with a little young adult summer friends to lovers. Their time is carefree and very new. Wow, this book gets steamy as their romance has an expiration date. This gets heartbreaking as you also learn his side of the story while enjoying the dual POV. Part 2 of this book is in winter. We have jumped a few years from the last heartbreaking scene. Ellie is now in midlife and has accomplished her dreams, but her relationships still fail. A gift seems to turn her thoughts around, but she doesn’t act on it. Part three The unexpected happened, and now they seem to be rushing back to the south to lay her aunt to rest. A reunion with her first love, Jack, is bound to happen, and it does, but as emotionally conflicting as this story is, I have no idea what happens next. I do love that there is an unspoken history between them and the memories they share. So now the story is a second-chance romance, but it feels like it has some cheating. While I’m rooting for Ellie and Jack, I can’t help but be bewildered by the actions they take while he is in a supposed relationship. Wow, it’s a trial to make them happy, but of course, their tender moments finally made me teary-eyed. I’m glad they both finally came to their senses. This book’s epilogue ends well, and the romance’s journey ends where it began.

A Read that Stirs the Emotions
As I age, I have found that I am much more sentimental and books like this stir my emotions deeply. If it hadn’t been for Kindle’s daily sales, I would have never known of the book or its author. I bought this book because it was written by the name sake of an old neighbor I had when growing up and of course it was written about a couple who meets in Tennessee where I have lived all my life. Still, it was more of an impulse purchase than a selection based on interest.I didn’t have high expectations but was pleasantly surprised by the breadth and depth of the story. It’s an easy read with few characters and all of them are memorable. I doubted it could rival the work of Nicholas Sparks but I was wrong. This book is one Of the few I would consider reading again.

    Wonderful!
The Keeper of Stars by Buck Turner is a second chance romance. In 1950, Elizabeth “Ellie” Spencer spent the summer with her aunt in a lakeside town in Tennessee where she met Jack Bennett. Their summer romance leaves her torn between her dreams and her heart. Twelve years later, Ellie has achieved her dream and works as a professor of astronomy when a mysterious package will send her back to the summer and the one that got away. Inside the package was a novel written by Jack. It tells the story of a young man and woman who meet, fall in love and are ultimately torn apart by circumstances beyond their control. Realizing that he wrote their story, she immerses herself in the story and one detail of the story has her questioning everything she knew about their relationship. The sudden death of her aunt brings her back to the lakeshore and Jack. This book was brought to my attention by my aunt who thought it was something I would enjoy. And she was right. Described as “The Notebook meets Where the Crawdads Sing,” The Keeper of Stars is a very sweet second chance love story as Ellie and Jack are two lovers from opposite sides of the tracks and must fight opposition, expectations and time to find a way to be together. The writing was very lyrical and flowed easily. It was a page turner and easy to read as I was caught up in Ellie and Jack’s story. There are moments of drama and moments of reconciliation. It is a great story for a weekend read as it pulls you in and keeps you in the story with beautiful locations. The ending was touching and heartfelt. I loved the author’s description of the lake and the surrounding areas. I highly recommend The Keeper of Stars. The Keeper of Stars is available in paperback, eBook and audiobook
