I really like where this is going. The system is becoming even more interesting and I love how you can see the story and characters getting deeper in this series. It’s awesome to see how Bruce improves with each new series!

This story is really taking shape. The action adventure elements are excellent and the pacing was perfect. I’m also really enjoying the relationships and the spice in this book was just right. Can’t wait for more!

This is one of the better returner series I’ve read, the main character actually uses his brain and knowledge to push things in the right direction knowing he’s changing things as it happens.

Great continuation
I am always skeptical of stories that have someone who has lived for hundreds of years then suddenly come back to set things right. Inevitably they act like the age they are instead of what theyâre supposed to be with their âexperienceâ. Bruce doesnât fall into this trap. Bran acts much more mature and experienced, as he should, than an 18 year old and I thoroughly enjoy it. Nothing is worse than someone supposed to be old acting like a stuttering teenage twit. The continuation of this story was great. The progress kept going smoothly, the fights felt good, and character progression all around was extremely enjoyable.

Excellent second book
Big fan of Bruce and love the Returners Defiance series. Itâs only the second book, but this has quickly become a favorite of mine. I read a lot of webtoons and some Korean novels, this gives the same vibes but from a Western perspective. The whole system aspect and traveling back in time is done well. The world building and lore is very interesting and also written well. I enjoy all the characters both the main and side characters as well. Loved this book canât wait for the next one.

Fun, active, well paced
Canât wait for the 3rd. Great expansion of the world. Read it in a weekend. Love the depth that is being added to the universe. I hope this series is incredibly long and has spinoffs. Definitely has the potential. Also Bruce has a great way of handling the stats, not drowning you in numbers that cease to have meaning as they grow but giving quick giving context and skipping the long spreadsheets to focus on a key few points that keeps the story going. Huge fan of this. I hope this method spreads to other rpg lit books.

Great story but very disappointed in the direction of the powers
So, as always, I think Bruce did a great job writing this one.The plot has been really fun and interesting. But one of the things I love most about the litrpg/haram litrpg genre is getting to experience the power growth of the characters and seeing what directions that they are taken. As well as seeing these powers realized in epic battles.Bruce historically has done a great job a keeping my attention with giving his character well fleshed out in interesting powers (even if he forgets to use half of the powers in fight scenes sometimes lol). This series started off with the MC getting some really cool blood related powers in the last book that my imagination ran wild with. Imagining how he would incorporate the different bloodlines he was absorbing with his interesting blood powers got me really hype. This book takes a large step back from that. Instead of taking these really interesting blood powers and leaning into them the MC seems to want to distance himself from those powers and lean into becomingâ¦wellâ¦a brute. Now donât get me wrong the story does a good job at explaining his reasoning for this, but that doesnât make it any less disappointing. Brute archetypes in this genre are the most mind numbingly boring stories to read. Every fight scene becomes the same, just like it did in this book (Make weapon, stun enemy, smash, smash, smash – repeat – Enrage! – repeat). Itâs not fun to read. Iâm hoping Bruce can salvage this a bit in the next one because i can already see it becoming very boring if the powers/fight scenes keep going as they have been.

Amazing Book 2!
Love where the story is going. Itâs funny how Bran tried to be low key and keep things quiet and everything blows up on him. Definitely makes for a more interesting story but still kind of funny. Love all of the new characters and canât wait to see them get fleshed out more. Looking forward to where book 3 goes!

loved it, story is expanding in a great way
I love most of this authorâs stories, but by far this is my favorite and it keeps getting better/deeper. We finally get to the root and wham, gotta wait for the next book. Thatâs not to say that this was filler, it really added depth to the story and characters, but I wish it was longer (always). Looking forward to the audible and next books, please donât make me wait long!

Brutal Good Fun
Book two was a hell of a ride, I wonât lie. Things really ramp up in scope, power, danger, and changes as our MC continues to be a giant frigginâ butterfly that changes history with every flap. There were a lot of fun twists and turns here, as well as revelations that I was waiting for.Plenty of character growth, both in stats and as individuals, lots of action and spice, some romance, and of course ALL THE TRAINING.Really looking forward to book three and getting closer to the Rapture!

Great story – Going to be a long ride
I am really enjoying this series. 2 books in and the characters and world are great.Focusing on this book specifically, there are some slight problems, but overall a fun adventure and this series can go on for a long time (which im totally here for). Please dont rush the story this world has a lot to offer. In short some of aspects of the character foreknowledge is already irrelevant and the story has gone from a returners story to an adventure story(nothing wrong with that). On another critique i think the author stayed way too long in the initial instance.Overall the story is great but i wish we got to delve deeper into other aspects such as the Heros clan, Brans family, and the tartarus faction (especially with where the author wants to focus next).
