Pyramid PS8KX Works Great
I use it to power a stock Uniden 980ssb cb radio. I dont know which one some people are reviewing or why it mentions a cooling fan in description because this one doesn’t have a cooling fan and the operation is quiet. It has a heat sink on the back. It does get kind of warm but not overly hot. I hooked up a pc fan to the power supply and put it right behind the the heat sink and this really cooled down the power supply by a lot it runs much cooler. I did run the power supply for a month without the fan and ran fine i just figured since i had a pc fan laying around that keeping it cooler during operation will extend it’s lifetime.

Awesome power supply in every way I needed
As a ham operator, I’ve been plagued for years with horrid RFI noise from countless “Wall Wart” power supplies running lots of small devices in my radio room – computer monitors, radio accessories, etc. In every single case of tracking down noise, it turned out being one of these cheap switching power supplies.So in the last few months I’ve been buying these Pyramid / Pyle 12vdc linear power supplies, and rewiring all my low-voltage devices using these supplies as the source. At 6 amps, I have found I can easily run multiple small 12v devices from a single supply. I simply make up cables with inline fuses for safety and terminate according to the needs of the device I’m running.This is a TOTALLY LINEAR (“analog”) power supply and doesn’t generate ANY noise. It’s built using easily sourced replacement parts, clearly marked for part number etc., and the manual comes with a full schematic. Build quality is excellent.I now have 7 of these supplies all over my radio room and 100% of my “wall wart” noise problems are gone.Happy to rate this supply a full 5 stars for being exactly what it’s advertised to be, and for doing a great job.

Excellent “sounding” little power supply
I purchased this on Amazon I don’t know how long ago but is a great little power supply. I am an audiophile and I run two high end tripath amplifiers that require about 2A max each at 12V; 13.8 V in this case, putting out about 15 W of audio power each. I also run a Tortuga light dependent resistor preamp off of the same 12 V, requiring maybe about 0.5 A. The sound is excellent, meaning the power is very good and it makes my audio system sound a lot better than with another power supply. I just tried a much heavier rated linear power supply and it made my system sound like crap. So I sent that back and I’m staying with this unit.Home high-end audio is generally not something that people would need 12 V for, but in this case it works very well. I would recommend this for something that isn’t going to suck a lot of amps.One thing I don’t care about this is that it has a built-in cheap 2 conductor cord. I would much have preferred a standard IEC jack with ground. That’s the only reason I don’t rate it five stars. I plan on doing a little minor surgery and replacing that cord with an IEC jack, grounding the chassis, and then using my own custom power cord. But that’s just me. Highly recommended depending on your usage.
