EA SPORTS™ NHL® 25 is powered by ICE-Q, a new gameplay intelligence system that gives you the time and space to control every inch of the ice. Next-Gen Vision Control allows you to walk the blue line, square up to the puck carrier, stay locked on goal, and much more. Empowered AI completely overhauls Chel’s CPU player system, helping them execute authentic plays with a refreshed playbook that improves powerplays and opens up the ice for better overall positioning and offensive opportunities. Reactive Actions utilizes a series of new animations to make skaters more responsive in critical situations, increasing their urgency, collision avoidance, and reliability. ICE-Q is true hockey intelligence. Plus, the addition of a revamped Franchise Mode experience, a brand-new WOC Live Events structure, HUT Wildcard Mode, and a simplified, single-path XP progression shared across HUT kicks Chel’s game modes up a notch. Upping the ante even further on presentation, the all-new Grudge Match System keeps track of the competitive history between teams across all major online and offline modes and enhances series with special X-Factors that are earned in previous matchups against rival teams. Finally, the introduction of Sapien Technology to the franchise takes character likenesses to a whole other level. Like the Hughes Brothers, NHL 25 is next-gen hockey.
ICE-Q – This is true hockey intelligence. Built on an all-new logic-driven animation system, ICE-Q responds to contextual events on the ice with unprecedented authenticity and is the foundation of Chel’s gameplay overhaul.
SKILL BASED ONE-TIMERS – Skill Based One-Timers create authentic gameplay tension as offensive excitement and expectation mix with defensive concern and anticipation, each pass creating unique moments and opportunities for high-scoring probability shots.
GRUDGE MATCH – Hockey is at its best when the competition is fierce. The all-new Grudge Match System tracks the history of matchups between teams across all major online and offline modes in NHL 25 to add more context, stakes and heat to showdowns with your rivals.
NEXT-GEN CHARACTERS – The next best thing to the real thing. Thanks to the introduction of Sapien Technology to the NHL franchise and the power of our Frostbite Engine on next-gen consoles, all of NHL 25’s in-game characters have received a serious visual overhaul.

    Nothing New
I’ve been playing the NHL franchise since 1997. Over the years, the graphics have improved, but that’s about it. There are a bunch of gameplay features that were present 20 years ago, but completely missing in the releases of recent years. For one, there is basically zero pregame immersion. They used to show the outside of the arena as it was loading, then there was a pregame scene where they showed some of the players stats, the goalies, etc. It was similar to how Madden or the new NCAA Football game have a pregame scene. Maybe most people skip it, but I love it, and it makes me feel like I’m actually watching a real game on TV. I miss that.Another thing…they used to have 3 stars at the end of the game, where the top 3 players of the game came out and did a wave to the crowd. I loved it. I miss that. Wish they’d bring it back. Also, there are about a billion jerseys for the Boston Bruins…but no yellow pooh bear alternates from the late 90s and 00s. How and why are these excluded? They used to be in the game. But haven’t been the past couple releases. Also, a bunch of other sweet alternates from the 90s are missing, including the LA Kings “burger king” jerseys. But a bunch of other alternates are included. Wish they’d include all of them. Are my gripes minor? Yes. Do I still enjoy the game? Yes. But it does irk me that there were features present decades ago which are no longer part of the game. It’s a step back. Also, it doesn’t seem that it’s possible to turn of no trade clauses in dynasty mode. It’s terrible, and has messed up the way I play dynasty mode, which is something I’ve been doing as long as the game has had it.
