She’s the virginal cheerleader, and he’s the tortured bad boy. Their worlds are different, but college life at Dickson University brings them together in a passionate, angsty, fiery collision.
Finn Hayes is what girls my age would call “stupid hot.” He’s handsome, has brown eyes that remind me of warm chocolate chip cookies, and a tall, muscular build that makes marble sculptures jealous.
Green flag, right?
Wrong.
He’s also broody, closed off, and so complex that it feels like I need a decoder to crack him.
He’s unlike anyone I’ve ever met and fights like he came out of the womb swinging, taking down both my ex-boyfriend and an ex-UFC fighter with ease.
But the underground society at our college known as Double C has nothing on him in the secrets department, and it’s that mysterious edge that keeps me coming back for more.
This is more than the story of how Finn and I fell in love.
This is proof that love has a learning curve. Sometimes you succeed, and sometimes…it destroys you.
Author Note: Learning Curve is a New Adult Romance standalone that is book one in the Dickson University Series. If anything, each and every book just gets better and better that these two authors release. Learning Curve has everything and everyone that I love from the Billionaire Bad Boys series and the Winslow Brothers series. Itâs got the humour that will have you snorting really unattractively, a swoony guy that will become a book boyfriend, a heroine thatâs relatable and admirable, and a storyline that grips you. This book tugged on so many of my heartstrings, broke my heart and fixed it a fair few times. It was a rollercoaster of emotions. It is an amazing book that I highly recommend. I loved Scottie, her resilience despite everything thatâs been thrown at her, you couldnât help but feel for and love her. Finn really is book boyfriend material, and heâs just gets better and better throughout. I loved getting to see the kids of the first gen and Iâm really hoping they get their stories. Iâve loved seeing the 1st gen couples and seeing that theyâre just as brilliant regardless of age and parenthood. Loved seeing Thatch⦠Iâd still Thatch that and Cassie is still my favourite heroine. Loved being back in that world, and itâs made me want to do a reread of them all. Although you donât have to have read the other series to enjoy it, Iâd definitely recommend it because they are brilliant.I loved all the new sides characters and Iâm already counting down for the next book in this new series. I hope we get to see more of Scottie and Finn enjoying their lives together.Really loved this book

I read at night, to relax and sleep. Usually, a couple of pages is enough to send me to sleep. Even when I wake up during the night, I can always read myself back to sleep fairly quickly. Even with my favourite authors. Five hours after starting this book, I was still wide awake. The last time that happened was⦠go figure; when I read âWhat I Should Have Saidâ. Be warned – this book is addictive.

First and foremost, a huge thank you to Max Monroe and Hambright PR for the ARCâthis book was truly a journey.University/college romances with a healthy dose of drama are the very reason I got back into reading about three years ago. However, after a while, I found that many books in this genre started to feel repetitive. Not due to a lack of effort from the authors, but because the genre seemed to take a single direction that everyone followed, readers included. As a result, I quickly grew bored of reading the same dynamics and storylines over and over again. But Learning Curve finally brought this genre back to its former glory for me. The plot is full of twistsâsome more believable than othersâbut all undeniably entertaining. I was hooked from the very first chapters, and so much happened that it truly felt like a journey.I especially loved how the authors shifted the focus between Finn and Scottie, making both protagonists equally compelling with their own layers and subplots. They didnât neglect the secondary characters eitherâAce, Julia, Blake, the siblings, the familiesâeach one played a vital role in making the story complete. They added humor, warmth, and the perfect finishing touch. Now, if youâre wondering why I gave it “just” 4 stars despite all the praise, itâs because of the final plot twist involving the FMC. While I loved the drama, I felt this particular twist was a bit too much. I understand what the authors were trying to convey with that storyline, but I believe the themes of unconditional love and ethical dilemmas had already been successfully addressed. That last twist felt a bit overdone to me.That said, I absolutely canât wait to dive into Blake and Lexiâs story next! Ace and Juliaâs will no doubt be my favorite (I already know it), and maybe weâll even get to see Kayla and Reeceâs story too? Fingers crossed! ð¤

Learning Curve by Max Monroe is the perfect blend of humor, heart, and heat that will keep you flipping pages late into the night.Finn Hayes is hot, handsome, grumpy and carrying a lot of baggage and no doubt we will be attracted to such broody character like Scottie. She is sweet, adorable and wants to crack him. From the first chapter, Max Monroe hooks you with witty banter and a storyline that feels fresh yet comforting. The characters are vibrant, relatable, and oh-so-charming, all inclusive of our side characters. They are amazing and lovable. Our leading duo, with their undeniable chemistry, brings a fun dynamic that perfectly balances the more tender, emotional moments of the story. It’s the kind of book that makes you laugh out loud, swoon a little, and maybe even tear up when you least expect it.The themes of self-discovery, love, and the ups and downs of life are woven seamlessly into the narrative, making it not just a romance but a story about growth and embracing change. If youâre a fan of rom-coms that leave you with a smile and a full heart, Learning Curve is a must-read!â¨Perfect for fans of: witty banter, heartfelt romance, dual pov, grumpy x sunshine, he fights for her, angst and a good laugh.

Usually I really like Max and Monroe books, but this one was just to much. Everything was exaggerated. In my humble opinion, the romance was lacking, no depthness, just a push-pull relationship. And for most of the book I was annoyed with the way that Finn was dealing with everything.Last but not least, can some explain to me what was the intent behind the last 10% of the book? If they just had done that in the middle of the book…but in the end?Overall, was not the greatest book from them.

I love this writing duo
I absolutely love this writing duo, theyâve brought me hours upon hours of joy. I love their characters, their stories, the spice in all their books, this one just wasnât for me.Finn and Scottieâs story has way too much going on and I really struggled to stick with this book. It just didnât hold my attention like their books normally do. I think it this book couldâve been wrapped up in 400 pages instead of 600, I mightâve been able to stick with it. Or maybe itâs because I have kids that are the same age as Finn and Scottie and I couldnât relate to the story. I donât know, it just isnât for me. But it wonât deter from picking up their next book (Iâm really hoping itâs Blake and Lexi)!I will say that Ace Kelly, yepâ¦Thatch and Cassieâs son, stole the show for me throughout this book. I just love this freaking kid!

A Max Monroe Unlike Anything Iâve Read!!!
âWhen I say I love you, I mean it. When I say you have me, I mean it. Nothing will change for me. Weâre kindred. Meant to be. And I refuse to move forward without you. You have me. Period. End of story.âI have read many of Max Monroeâs books but this book here is unlike any book of theirs Iâve read. To say they truly outdid themselves in unimaginable ways doesnât even begin to describe Learning Curve.Iâm use to the belly aching laughs, the ridiculous over the top hilarity, the warm feels that comes with friendships and family bonding and camaraderie that is Max Monroeâs trademark charmâ¦donât get me wrong, this book had that but so much more. All the emotions that hit had me in a complete tailspin. I in no way was expecting to get in my feelings the way I did. I found myself angry and in tears from secondhand heartache. I mean she put Finn and especially Scottie through it. I found myself literally asking why Max Monroe why!?!The angst, the drama, the secrets, the twists, the falling, the love and again THEE heartache. I just could not and did not want to put this book down. I was riveted, hooked up on every single word. Finn was all broody but a total sweetheart once he fell. Scottie, phew talk about strength personified. They had so much to learn, about life, each other, love and everything in between. They were messy, flawed, vulnerable, perfectly imperfect and I loved it. At times, they were exactly what youâd expect from college teens but at others, they carried a maturity, wisdom and tenacity of those twice their age. Their story was nothing like I expected yet blew any and all expectations out the water.I lost count of how many times I was literally laughing out loud and shaking from laughing tears. There were also so many moments that left my heart so full, overflowing with joy and happiness. The Winslows, Hayes, Klines, Lancasters, Kellys and the new found friends all in one book was pure absolute hilarious chaos and oh how I loved it!This book felt good in all the best ways and it hurt like h3ll in other ways. Max Monroe, youâve done with your big one with this and I cannot wait for more of this series! Definitely a fave of this year! And is it too early to already declare this one of my favorite second generation series??

A Wonderful New Generation
For five years I have loved reading and annually rereading the tales of Max Monroeâs wild, wacky, hilarious and endearing characters including Kline and Georgia, Thatcher and Cassie, Wes and Winnie and their friends and families. Now their offspring are having their day, and offering us a great time watching them facing love and life challenges with all the feels, laughter and tears. Imagine Thatch AND his son Ace in a prank war! Thatâs just a taste of this wonderful glimpse into the families we have come to love. Thank you Max & Monroe, please keep these coming!

Wow! What a way to start a series! I found this story extraordinary. The relationship between Finn and Scottie was so intensely heartfelt. Their Individual story gutted, and inspired me. It was such fun to have the characters who started it all make an appearance. For me it was nostalgic and made me smile.I cried, laughed, and my heart was full of love for this story. This was a beautiful story and I’m looking forward to the series! â¤ðâ¤

Heartstrings Tugged
Finn and Scottieâs story took an unbelievable turn, I feel like I saw it coming but I really wished it didnât.Finn has so much drama and wonât let anyone in. Scottie comes with her own bag of issues but know one sees it until itâs too late. Great book, long read and some areas I think couldâve been shortened but over all I give it four stars. Anxiously awaiting book 2 in the Dickson Series.
