What happens when you have to fake date your childhood enemy?
I never thought I’d hire someone to pretend to be my boyfriend, but despite being twenty-five and the CEO of my own tech company, I haven’t had much success in my love life. When I’m faced with being dateless for my company retreat, desperate times call for desperate measures.
Unfortunately, the universe decides it’s a great time to play the ultimate prank as my fake date turns out to be none other than Liam Jamieson, my life-long nemesis. Liam grew up next door to me and is the definition of Mr. All American Jock. Our childhoods were an endless cycle of pranks and one-upmanship against each other.
Now we have to pretend we’re in love? This is going to be a complete disaster.
Or is it?
Because it turns out Liam and I have both grown up since high school. And maybe, just maybe, we never actually knew each other.
Hired by the Enemy is a 40,000-word enemies-to-lovers novella that features a nerd and jock who are forced to work together with surprising results. It was first published in April 2024 as part of the Elite Connections charity anthology and no additional material has been added.

I could not stop reading this book! The intimate scenes were so hot. I loved all the romance. Such a great story! I laughed so much too.

Super snarky, sexy and adorable! Itâs fairly short (or I just devoured it very quickly) but very cute fake boyfriend plot about having to spend a week in sunny Hawaii with your school/next door neighbour nemesis. It ends in a cosy christmas HEA, so really itâs perfect for any time of year and itâll be a book Iâm sure iâll read again and again. 5 stars from me!

Familiar Trope But Really Creative!
I really enjoyed this book. I kind of expected the same tired fake boyfriend/one bed trope, but Liam and Matthewâs lifelong antagonism really added a new element. Great dialogue and interesting characters!

donât want it to end
For me one of the true tests of of a book is, do I look forward to the next time I have reading time and am I looking forward to the book coming to add an end. This book excelled in both aspects, all I wanted to do was sit and read and I hated to think it was coming to an end. Great balance of tension and intrigue. Matthew and Liam knew each other, they just didnât know each other well enough to put aside their hatred for each other and really see who the other person was.

Fun
This was absolutely adorable. Like the banter between Liam and Matthew was absolutely hilarious. I loved their history with each other. They really did come from enemies to lovers. They couldnât stand each other at first but that history actually made them something in each other that they liked. Iâm in love with this series so these two were perfect in this universe.I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

So sweet!
A wonderful low angst story with a perfect HEA. Two guys with a rocky past. Is there any hope for a future together?

Great Shift
Such a fun story, with a couple of devious kids, growing into a delightful pair of reluctant friends slash lovers. One of the best enemy-to-lovers themed stories Iâve read. Sufficient character development and a well played plot. Ends with a promise for a HEA.
