#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER From the beloved author of Big Little Lies, Apples Never Fall, and The Husband’s Secret comes a moving novel of love, marriage, family, and trying to find certainty in a fragile world.
“A riveting story so wild you don’t know how she’ll land it, and then she does, on a dime.”—Anne Lamott
Life is full of twists and turns you never see coming. But what if you did?
The plane is jam-packed. Every seat is taken. So of course the flight is delayed! Flight attendant Allegra Patel likes her job—she’s generally happy with her life, even if she can’t figure out why she hooks up with a man she barely speaks to—but today is her twenty-eighth birthday. She can think of plenty of things she’d rather be doing than placating a bunch of grumpy passengers.
There’s the well-dressed man in seat 4C who is compulsively checking his watch, desperate not to miss his eleven-year-old daughter’s musical. Further back, a mother of two is frantically trying to keep her toddler entertained and her infant son quiet. How did she ever think being a stay-at-home mom would be easier than being a lawyer? Ethan is lost in thought; he’s flying back from his first funeral. A young couple has just gotten married; she’s still wearing her wedding dress. An emergency room nurse is looking forward to traveling the world once she retires in a few years, it’s going to be so much fun! If they ever get off the tarmac. . . .
Suddenly a woman none of them know stands up. She makes predictions about how and when everyone on board will die. Some dismiss her. Others will do everything they can to make sure her prophecies do not come to pass. All of them will be forever changed.
How would you live your life if you thought you knew how it would end? Would you love who you love or try to love someone else? Would you stay married? Would you stop drinking? Would you call up your ex-best friend you haven’t spoken to in years? Would you quit your job?
Intricately plotted, with the wonderful wit Liane Moriarty has become famous for, Here One Moment brilliantly looks at friends, lovers, and family and how we manage to hold onto them in our harried modern lives.

Read this book in 3 sittings. The ploy swings between the past and present but it makes perfect sense that it does.

Couldnât put this one down! Buy a copy and give to your friends. Very interesting beginning and loved the ending.
LILLY BRIGGS –
I enjoyed reading this book so much that I was excited to finish it just so that I could read it again! Liane Moriarty has the power to keep the reader in multiple emotional states at one timeâcrying, laughing, identifying with the mundane to the sublime realities of life, and moreâall while compulsively needing to turn the page and find out more about each engrossing character.

The premise of this story was all I needed to persuade me to buy the book. Well, that and the author, who I knew could pull it off. Such a great idea, an excellent plot, all the stories within it were well told, to the point that I could easily see and hear these people in my mind. Great pacing from start to finish.
Bobbie Cooper –
Always worth reading!
Liane’s books always make me a bit teary eyed when I’m done, not necessarily because the plot makes me sad but because I’m so sorry to have finished it! Here one moment was no exception. I tend to be somewhat of a catastrophic and this story actually helped me see the foolishness of always thinking the worst might happen. Sure not everyone on that flight had a totally happy life without pain or loss but I realized that being somewhat obsessed about the what iff’s of life would prevent me from embracing all the u expected wonderful things. This is not so much a review as it is a plea to savor this book and all it had to teach us about being in the moment.

Women on plane predicts death
Different story than I have ever seen! Love the story, but disappointed by the ending. Book kind of drags near the end. However, I will always be a Liane Moriarty fan.

Not what I expected!
I was looking forward to my first book from this best selling author and I was intrigued by the premise of a clairvoyant aboard a plane giving death dates with circumstances and age at time of death to each passenger and crew member. With an exciting plot like that what could possibly go wrong? A lot. I did not feel connected to more than one or two characters in the book because this author did not flesh them out- they are interchangeable cardboard cut- outs.Cherry the psychic, has her life interspersed throughly the book. Sheâs weird and odd but not interesting.I had to skim the last hundred or so pages and it shows we can change our fate to some degree. I enjoy large books but literature that holds my interest- this was a snooze fest. I read a few pages a day. I dislike giving a bad review- I much prefer giving accolades because writing a novel is hard work.I upped my rating to a three because in two separate instance’s I cared about two death predictions. One came true and one fought fate.

INTENSE!
If you knew your future, would you try to fight fate?Aside from a delay, there will be no problems. The flight will be smooth, it will land safely. Everyone who gets on the plane will get off. But almost all of them will be forever changed.Because on this ordinary, short, domestic flight, something extraordinary happens. People learn how and when they are going to die. For some, their death is far in the futureâage 103!âand they laugh. But for six passengers, their predicted deaths are not far away at all.How do they know this? There were ostensibly more interesting people on the flight (the bride and groom, the jittery, possibly famous woman, the giant Hemsworth-esque guy who looks like an off-duty superhero, the frazzled, gorgeous flight attendant) but none would become as famous as âThe Death Lady.âNot a single passenger or crew member will later recall noticing her board the plane. She wasnât exceptionally old or young, rude or polite. She wasnât drunk or nervous or pregnant. Her appearance and demeanor were unremarkable. But what she did on that flight was truly remarkable.A few months later, one passenger dies exactly as she predicted. Then two more passengers die, again, as she said they would. Soon no one is thinking this is simply an entertaining story at a cocktail party. If you were told you only had a certain amount of time left to live, would you do things differently? Would you try to dodge your destiny?Liane Moriartyâs Here One Moment is a brilliantly constructed tale that looks at free will and destiny, grief and love, and the endless struggle to maintain certainty and control in an uncertain world. A modern-day Jane Austen who humorously skewers social mores while spinning a web of mystery, Moriarty asks profound questions in her newest I-canât-wait-to-find-out-what-happens novel. My Thoughts:From the very beginning of Here One Moment, we are catapulted into a string of predictions, happenings, and memories of the past with intriguing characters including those very moments with our narrator who is central to the stories of many who are on a plane as she makes predictions. How will our narrator change the lives of those who are unexpectedly drawn into what might happen to them?As it turns out, our main character is an actuary who has just gone through a major loss, which turns her into someone she is not and who will come to affect the lives of many.I couldnât stop turning the pages as everything comes together in strange ways. 5 stars.***

Liane Moriarty, Here One Moment
Leane Moriarty Is an author I follow because she tells a story with characters that are well developed and a story line that is easy to follow. It begins with an extended delay and wait for a flight. If you’re like me, don’t be. Although this book appears to be a long read. It is 500 pages, I am a slow reader and will finish it within the week. Yesterday I took it to an appointment, and waiting a half hour was a breeze.

I don’t want to know when I am going to die
A woman on a plane wanders the aisles in something of a fugue state pointing at passengers and giving them the time and cause of their deaths. No one thinks much about it (except that she is exceptionally rude and weird) until her predictions begin to come true. Is it fate or can the predetermined deaths be avoided? And who was the woman who made the predictions? Filled with interesting characters and an absorbing story, HERE ONE MOMENT is an excellent vacation read. It’s a page turner, and a conversation starter but not so gripping that you won’t stop for a meal or a swim in the ocean (I read it in Fiji). Regardless of whether the story stays with you, the idea of knowing one’s own time and cause of death will stay with you and make you think about what it is you really value in life and what you would do if you knew your own mortality. How would it change the way you live your everyday life? So interesting!

Time of death, Cause of death
This novel revolved around the topic of death, but in a most fascinating way / time of death, cause of death and the prediction of it. Ms Moriarty tells this story in such an unusual way that we can imagine ourselves on that plane. It is frightening, reflective, entertaining, nonsense, and scientific all in one book. I so enjoyed the conversational way her writing brought the lives of the many characters together. You can be the judge of whether the ending is satisfying. It will certainly give you lots to think about!
