In the monster’s eyes, I saw the reflection of my own dark desires.I’ve always chased thrills—dark, risky, and dangerous—because it’s the only way I feel alive after enduring a childhood filled with trauma and pain. My scars run deep, hidden behind a façade of innocence.
When the carnival comes to town, I meet Gage—a masked man cloaked in shadows and darkness. He’s everything I crave: thrilling, terrifying, and utterly irresistible. As our paths intertwine, I’m drawn into a world where fear and desire collide, and the line between pleasure and pain blurs.
Gage awakens something primal in me. He’s my darkest fantasy, and together, we explore the boundaries of our desires. Beneath his rough exterior, I glimpse a vulnerability and pain that mirrors my own. We’ve both been broken, haunted by our pasts, but perhaps in each other, we can find healing and redemption.
Will our love be enough to tame the monsters within us, or will our demons consume us both?
Carnival Monster is a dark romance novella with heavy subjects that some readers may find triggering. A full list of the warnings will be found in the book. This story has no cliffhanger and ends with a HEA.

I loved this from start to finish. Itâs so dark and spicy, with well thought out characters. I loved following their growth, individually and together as the story developed. If youâre a fan of Haunting Adeline then this will definitely tickle your fancy! As a dark romance any triggers should be taken seriously as there are some hard hitting topics discussed. I thoroughly enjoyed how it explored truly embracing your dark desires and the true beauty to be found in doing so.Cannot wait to read more from this author and have already made a start on Cade and Lilys story!

Oh my goodness! 𤤠I’m a puddle of lust after reading Gage’s story. Truly, Selena nails her hot sexy men. They’re all dark, unhinged, and oh, so scorching HOT! Selena has definitely become one of my all-time favourite authors, and I can’t wait to buy and read whatever she releases next!

Two dark twisted souls come together in this super spicy stalker/ serial killer dark romanceAurora goes to the carnival with her besties only to come face to face with a 6.6 masked man who takes her breath away.Gage doing his part in the haunted house goes to scare a customer only to be pinned in place by beautiful eyes who he canât get enough ofGage is far from a good boy heâs killed heâs tortured and most of all heâs stalked Aurora since the moment he met her. Aurora feeling like sheâs being watched and stalked enlists her friends in helping her but what she donât know is that Gage wonât stop at anyone not even her best buds to get her. They both have had terrible childhoods and both have dark and depraved sexual needs which together they fulfil these needs much to the shock of eachother.Loved Aurora and Gage story, lots and lots of spice and even a HEA for these two love birds

Mixed Feelings
The character development is nonexistent for the MMC which is disappointing. he’s a psychopath and in his first night seeing her he comments how she makes him want to consider a life beyond the shadows. This was on p. 20. I don’t think he should even be thinking that until much later like maybe after their 2nd or 3rd encounter. So development was rushed, if it existed at all. I liked the main characters overall though. The spice was spicing. But he should’ve been straight up depraved in the beginning, not falling for her on sight. She was a strong enough lead to pull that out of him over time. The virginity trope is always a favorite for me but that was also fumbled through. I would have liked for him to hesitate on that a bit more. Deny her and make her beg for it. Also after the initial act was done, there was no mention of blood. Would’ve been really nice if afterwards he would’ve licked her blood from that area…I mean, we learn later that he was into blood play. He was big on possessiveness, him licking the blood from between her legs would’ve set that off. Anyway, it was a decent read just wish the development wasn’t rushed. The MMC should’ve been depraved a lot longer.

Calling all smut whores! This one is for you!
This book was perfect in the smut department, It didn’t feel lacking at all. The story was good and the character development was on point. This is a dark and twisted smutsluts delicious treat. I highly recommend this book for the girlies who like Beauty and the beast but way more darker. It does end in a very sweet and sexy way. I like the happily ever after ending. It was the perfect way to end it. Kuddos to the Selena Winters for an entertaining and sexy read. â¤ï¸

Loved it! Had so much in it that I’ve been waiting for in one book
Don’t read my review if you don’t want to know what happens….I don’t like that it seems like each paragraph repeats itself with the same wording to describe the same moment. Or even similar moments. It was like I lost where I was and was rereading the same thing over and over. However, the plot and events made up for it. I’ve been waiting for gun and knife play, dark souls finding eachother, and love making to be in the same book. And it’s all in this. They go from stalker obsessed to giving into the temptation knowingly on a better level than other books, to rough dangerous smex to love making. All in one couple. And I loved it. The thrill, the verbiage to eachother. Oh it hit all the right nerves!I would recommend this book to those who have a dark side, and want to find or have found the other half willing to go where ever their mind and heart takes them, rather light or dark. Great read for those who feel like their dark side has always had to stay in the shadows and away from unapproving eyes. Someone looking for acceptance in every inch of their soul. For someone who sees the darkest parts in others and relates, withholding judgement even when they don’t.It’s a quick read comparingly but this was an amazing book I’d love to add to my trophy shelf to read again at a later date. Both this and the first book, carnival nightmare.

we all have a monster inside us
I mean who doesnât want a masked man?Aurora is out here getting the masked man at a carnival. Her darkness and his darkness come together in an explosive way and ends up healing each other beautifully. The spice is spicy, the plot is good itâs honestly a really nice balance. Definitely pick up if youâre in need of a spooky season read.âSoon, Iâll pluck you from this world and make you blossom into something beautifully dark. Youâre mine now. Thereâs no escaping the shadows once they have your scent. Sleep well, little one.â

Not Bad, but Not a Favorite
I just finished this dark romance, and while the plot was pretty generic, it was definitely more of a fun read than something you’d dive into for a deep storyline. The smut wasn’t badâjust be sure to check the trigger warnings, as it does contain some elements that might be outside of your usual comfort zone. It wasnât anything too special, but it wasnât horrible either. There is a Happily Ever After, which wraps things up nicely for the FMC, though it did feel a bit rushed. But if you’re mainly looking for a fun read with some steamy scenes, it works well.I also enjoyed the writing styleâitâs exactly my type. The story is written in dual POV. Character-wise, the MMC’s internal conflicts were interesting to see, which added a nice layer to the story.Overall, itâs a decent choice if youâre in the mood for a light, smutty read. Can be read as a standalone.TROPES:- Happily ever after- Knife play/blood play- Masked Unaliver Stalker MMC- BDSM- Instant attraction

quick, spicy, dark read
3 1/2-4 starsGage is a morally black character there is no grey area within his character. That being said, he is infatuated with Aurora the moment he sees and touches her in the Carnival. And the feeling is reciprocated. There are definite triggers so make sure to check. The spice is very hot and the story moves rapidly. Very quick read

One of the BEST books I’ve read!
I was a bit hesitant to order because i’ve had quite a few disappointments when it comes to Dark Romance novels but I’m so happy that I did. When I tell you that I was fully invested after the first page, I was HOOKED! I read the entire book in 2.5 hours because I could not put it down. The MMC is a forceð¥µ. The scenes were so detailed that it was like a whole movie playing out in my head and it got things pretty heated up if you catch my drift. The storyline is incredible. I was able to relate to both MCs. In a weird and twisted kind of way, the book healed me a little bit by fulfilling a lot of my dark fantasies. I’m DESPERATE for a second book with Gage and Aurora but I’m already on my way to purchase Cade and Lillys story (Carnival Nightmare)
