Plunge into a thrilling adventure tracking domestic terrorists in book 7 of the acclaimed Maggie O’Dell series, from New York Times bestselling author Alex Kava.

On the busiest shopping day of the year, a group of idealistic college students believe they’re about to carry out an elaborate media stunt at the largest mall in America. They think the equipment in their backpacks will disrupt stores’ computer systems, causing delays and chaos, disrupting capitalism, if only for a moment.

What they don’t realize is that instead of jamming devices, their backpacks contain explosives. And they’re about to become unwitting suicide bombers.

FBI profiler Maggie O’Dell must put her own political troubles aside to work with Nick Morrelli and figure out who’s behind this terrorist plot—a massacre that’s all the more frightening when a tip reveals that Maggie’s brother is one of the doomed protestors.

Alex Kava’s novels have never failed to be entertaining and attention-grabbing right from the start. I always look forward to the next one.

Thoroughly enjoyed this novel by Alex Kava. I’ve read them all now. Only annoying thing in this book is she keeps refering to Patrick as Maggie’s step brother, when, if they have the same father, he is her half brother. Bad show to the editorial team who didn’t pick this up. But overall a good plot with some nice twists and turns.

    What’s an OK?
A good “B” novel-plot driven-meager attempts at character development-outcome predictable-fast read for a Sunday afternoon when your husband is watching football or on the golf course-(unless, of course, you share those activities with him)-The main character is very likeable-strong woman who is a pragmatic problem solver and gets things done-surrounded by strong men who challenge her-superficial conflict with her supervisor-no real development of conflict or depth to it-it just exists-but if you want distraction and action it is a good read—

Alex Kava delivers again. Maggie O’Reilly is my hero
Her characters are reliable as are her stories. Unfortunately I the world we live in, Alex Kava keeps her stories fresh and relatable. In this book, she shows Maggie also has a heart and how complicated things can get when her half brother is involved in a terrorist attack.

    Enjoyable but wanted more…
I am a true Kava fan. I preorder all of her books. She is only one of two authors that I own all of their books. I was especially excited that this was another Maggie O’Dell story, I just can’t get enough and with Nick being back what an added bonus!!When I received the book I sat down and started reading immediately! I must say that in the beginning I was drawn in to the story. Towards the middle till the end it was not holding my attention as had been anticipated. I still read this book in a weekend even though the story seemed rushed and I felt there were things left out. It seemed short for all that was happening and the plot. The emotion did not seem to be there and it didn’t seem like the characters really portrayed the intensity of the situation.Over all I enjoyed Black Friday but it is lacking compared to her earlier novels, I will still continue to purchase her books I just can’t help myself. If you are a fan it is worth the read and should be added to your collection.

    Betrayal, taking down America
Alex Kava, as always, is suspenseful, carries her stories all the way through and you just cannot hardly put the book down. You think you know who the protagonist is, what a shock. Alex gets better with every book. She starts out here at the Mall of America with 3 young men carrying backpacks. They are trying to take down the cash machines so they won’t work, what a shock when the mall blows up. Read on to find out the rest of the story. It is a shocker!

    Wonderful book
Alex Kava is the best author I have read in a long time. Her books are extremely hard to put down so be warned you will lose sleep. I bought every one of her books and read them in order as they were written

    Incredible Author
Kava can only be rated as a world first-class mystery writer. I have never been let down or disappointed with any Kava novel I’ve read (and I’ve read everything Kava has written). This novel is guaranteed to keep you nervously anticipating the next page. Kava is addicting reading so considered yourself warned. I couldn’t put “Black Friday” down until I finished reading it entirely. Yes, it’s that good!

    They keep getting better
Man I miss Cunningham, but boy do I like hating on the new boss! Maggie is back and it is a few months after the last episode where she almost died and her boss and mentor did die. A fun scene with the main characters starts the story off, but quickly their jobs and a national emergency take over. The writing grabbed my attention and I immediately was engrossed in figuring out the Who, what, why etc. As things are want to do, Nick is back but in another different role and still not over Maggie. This story was a great development because Maggie did not question her instincts as much, but rather trusted them as she kept sitting through the facts. The sibling development definitely took a turn and front seat for pets of this story and it was a fun change. The ending happened quickly as I could not put this story down, but I thought it was a great and fitting ending…I mean when are scenes with Harvey not the best?

    very good
This is #7 in the Maggie O’Dell series. It kept my attention from beginning to end. Maggie’s half brother is involved in the plot and part of the entire story. Just an easy and entertaining read. Can hardly wait to begin #8.
