The resolution of Weston’s story in the Wall Street Journal Bestselling Deliciously Dark Fairytales world.

He wasn’t supposed to fall in love.

Weston has made a mess of things. Since he realized the woman he was supposed to find and bring to justice was his true mate, things have spiraled out of control. He’s gone from one bad decision to the next, and now the situation threatens to topple down around him.

The good news is, Aurelia isn’t responsible for hurting people. She isn’t the one who should stand in front of the dragons and plead for her life.

If only the dragons and their kingdom agreed.

Weston must try to relay the truth and protect his true mate, all while she struggles to work through her past, his deceit, and her new life in opposition to the one woman she’d thought of as her mother.

Aurelia must go to war, and Weston will do everything he can to ensure she comes out alive.

Loved the sequel and the character development of Aurelia. It was a true journey and loved the supporting characters especially Vemar and Hadriel who kept ne laughing. Could not but help loving the characters and their bond. Still wanted to find out who Aurelia’s mother was and the story between her mother and father and if she was related to Calia.

After leaving us with a massive hook in the first book, K.F. Breene concludes this duology with an absolute master stroke, complete with an immense load of heat (it wouldn’t be the DDFT if there weren’t, so, again, pearl-clutchers must abstain themselves), tons of humour thanks to both the new faces and familiar ones who we are rediscovering, emotion, and a lot of action. It is impossible not to love and feel for Aurelia, or to lust after Weston, to laugh at Hadriel’s and Vemar’s antics, to fall in love again with Finley and Nyfain, or to hate Granny and hope that she will get her comeuppance. All in all, it is an immensely satisfying conclusion to the Weston duology of this series, and one that makes me hope that we will, at some point, get some more of this world and these characters.

Fantastic conclusion for this series! Being a huge fan of K. F. Breene I knew that she would give us a story that would capture our hearts and tantalise our imaginations. All the characters in her stories are rich in love, humour and fighting spirit, and the way in which they are written and described makes you feel that you would want them to be your friend…or enemy, as is the case here with Grandma and Alexander. ( And they got their butts handed to them!!)The characters are a main drawing point for me, and I love Weston and Aurelia. They both have so much spunk and you really want to see them overcome all their obstacles and self-doubts and their enemies. You cheer for them to succeed, together.Hadfield and Vemar. What a fabulous pair of a#%h01e guards they are!! They provide support, protection, laughter and friendship to Aurelia, and are one of the best things she could have asked for in her new life. Such great belly laughs from these guys, I cannot get enough of these two. They fit in perfectly anywhere, and they wouldn’t even care if they didn’t!I highly recommend this whole series!

Yet again I loved every moment, savoured every word and felt every emotion in this rollercoaster of a conclusion to Aurelia and Weston’s superb blend of dark and light fairytale – with enough spice blended in to rival Aurelia’s cooking! As the story progresses, favourite characters from the Ruin series are seamlessly brought in and integrated within it. And we get to see much more of Vemar! 😁Hadriel, of course, is his fabulous self. All the (not) side characters are wonderful, the banter and dialogues between everyone are sublime and the humour sprinkled throughout it all had me chuckling and laughing aloud. Cecil’s ‘theme’ for Aurelia’s clothes had me in stitches (see what I did there? 😆).You don’t need to have read the Ruin series that this is a spin-off from in order to enjoy this duology, but I’d recommend doing so to get the full and complete richness of this world 🐺🥀🐲 . . . Unless you’re a pearl clutcher of course, then you might not love them as much as I do 😘

“Her upbringing, as rough as it was, prepared her for this.” This was one of my favourite quotes. It described Aurelia’s story to a tee. How else could you describe all the pain, sorrow and trials of someone’s life only to see them overcome it all and turn out so well?I wish I was so much better at sorting my feelings. I didn’t think this book or the previous, A Court of Crimson, were necessary. I was wrong. Old friends are back, new ones are made and Westin and Aurelia are true mates. Both Nyfain and Finley are ready to burn her at the stake for her involvement in making Granny’s drugs. But before long, both realize she’s a victim in the whole thing.Easy 5 stars!

Deliciously Dark Fairytales: Red Riding Hood retelling. Another 🎖️ 🎖️ 🎖️ 🎖️ 🎖️ by K.F., who’s always an instant download for me. I got an ARC of this one and am freely and highly recommending it! (Read ACOC FIRST!)Shifters, dragons, fairy magic, amazing sidekicks, humor, fairly low angst.🎖️Fairytale re-telling🎖️Enemies-to-lovers🎖️Found Family🎖️Trauma recovery🎖️Possessive Alpha wolf🎖️KnottingACoK was the perfect follow up to ACoC! I’m so in love with the conclusion to this duology and it was amazing getting to revisit my favorite characters from the DDF: Beauty and the Beast retelling. I’m still in love with Nyfain but I think Weston just hip-checked him out of the way to take the #1 Book Boyfriend spot. Aurelia’s growth is everything I was waiting for. Hadriel has some competition from Vemar! Ahhhhh he stole the show in this one for me!K.F. Breene does a beautiful job with her written word describing the true mate relationship, pack bonds, and magic. The spice is 🔥🥵 🌶️ 🌶️ 🌶️ 🌶️ Just go grab ACoK!!

A great end(ong) to this duology!
Aurelia is a beautifully flawed character with a heart of gold. I loved her character growth with this series. While she is purposefully naive in ways that I can’t usually handle in most books with similar characters, I think Breene did her justice. Who doesn’t stick their head in the sand when things get overwhelming?Weston’s intelligence is his greatest strength. His emotional intelligence as well as his strategy was brilliant. I enjoyed that he was so willing to put Aurelia’s needs first. This series was a solid read with plenty of spice thrown in. While there was opportunity in the spicy scenes that unfortunately didn’t go where I thought they would, I believe that’s genuinely on me and my expectations. The book itself was hilarious as all of the Queen’s books are. Her side characters stole the show in this one. I loved that we got more of Hannon and Leala in this book.Overall, I gave this one a five star rating because nothing really compares to Breene’s writing style. It’s so wonderfully unique. 🖤👑

    Aurelia’s Amazing Ascension
This is Everything! Here we are again. Back in the world of Deliciously Dark Fairytales by K.F. Breene. This is the fantastic conclusion to A Cage of Crimson. That awesome adult retelling of little red ridinghood. The one where we were tragically left hanging by our fingertips on the edge of the cliff. Thankfully, we managed to not plunge into the sea before the author graciously threw us a line and pulled us from the edge. Saving everyone from the cliffhanger scare. Whew! Now, we get to find out what happened with Aurelia and Weston. And I loved every second of it. We begin just where we left off. On the ship sailing from the Red Lupine Kingdom. It’s a wild ride. Once our heroes depart from the ship, they step into the Dragon Kingdom. Where we catch up with old friends from the A Ruin of Roses series. The character interaction is so much fun! Aurelia makes many discoveries. We get to see her evolve and grow into someone very special. I truly loved her journey. The rest of the story is riddled with emotion, action, spice, humor, and something more. That special spark that this author always brings. I’m a little sad that this is the end of the story. But if it must end, at least it’s a satisfying end. If we’re luckily, the author will decide to return to this world and offer us more Deliciously Dark Fairytales.

    Cute ending
This was a cute ending to Aurelia and Weston’s story, though I do wish for more Hadriel. He was my favorite, along with the scary dragon… can’t remember how to spell his name 😂. I didn’t like that the ending felt really rushed compared to the rest of the book, but overall very enjoyable.

    Fantastic story, incredible well written
I loved this series. The story telling and characters are brought to life so easily and the world building draws you into their life so well, it’s hard to put down. The best way I can describe it is decadent. Just the right amount of everything. Character building, relationships, humor, spice, emotion, complexity -it’s all perfectly woven into this luxurious journey. I loved every minute of it.
