The most comprehensive book to learn Japanese:
Exact Guide – You are still at the very or relatively beginning and don’t know where to start out right? I felt the same way in the beginning. 8/10 people who start learning Japanese stop early because they lack a clear guidance. Therefore, in this book I present such a guide on how to learn Japanese up to N5 level as a beginner with complete clarity. The confidence it gives you will help you stay motivated and have fun while learning.
Effective learning strategy – Worried that learning Japanese is too challenging? Many people cram grammar or kanji first instead of focusing on vocabulary, which can be exhausting and demotivating. This book focuses on teaching you 42 new words every week using a very special flash card learning strategy (the “deck” method I developed). This has the effect that you feel a direct sense of achievement and can suddenly understand more and more words in Japanese songs, conversations or anime.
Holistic approach – Instead of just learning individual words, you get the learning material and a clear learning plan for ALL 840 N5 words. I remember exactly what it was like for me to learn this vocabulary for the first time. With a clear learning strategy, it went much faster than expected, and the feeling of understanding individual words and even sentences in a language as complex as Japanese was indescribably motivating.

Flawed textbook with errors and typos, romanji on every page
While it is very handy to have a list of 840 words to memorize there are several locations where what is supposed to be the English definition is written in German (which I presume this was translated from). There is at least one instance of the example Japanese sentence not matching the English translation. The paper is too thin for the diy flashcards to be feasible, you can see the answers through the paper. Because of that the only useful part of the book is the first section which unfortunately has romanji. It’s not recommended to use romanji after memorizing the hiragana/katakana as your brain automatically reads the characters it’s most familiar with which doesn’t force you to practice reading.I wish that the definitions came with the part of speech and that there was an example sentence for each meaning.

A unique, organized, and effective approach to learning Japanese…
From the Introduction of the book on learning Japanese, it is clear that its writing is powered by a genuine passion and authenticity. Next, a clear and concise pathway is presented. From there, you are presented with the secret to the book’s approach, which involves a unique and effective flashcard learning system. As the author indicates, âOne of the purposes of the decks is to be able to categorize which decks you are already good at and which are still difficult for you.â Then suddenly, you realize that you have a proven plan for learning Japanese, which is unique, organized, and effective.

An insightful approaches to learning Japanese effectively
My daughter has been studying Japanese alone, and I wanted to help her by getting some good books. This book was the right choice for many reasons. I flipped through this book as I am not an expert on Japanese, but what I found was interesting. And even better, my daughter likes the book. The book is structured to teach you the most basic and essential vocabulary of the Japanese language, focusing on the JLPT N5 level. Itâs very beginner-friendly, starting with a good introduction to how to use the book. Next is the vocabulary section, which is the heart of the book. Each word entry is presented with its meanings and usage, and an additional flashcard section is provided to help memorization. What I liked the most was the unique methodological approach. The flashcard-based learning system is really excellent and helps build and upgrade vocabulary effectively. Also, including QR codes for additional resources and the option to print extra flashcards as needed is a nice touch.I believe that this book is a valuable tool for beginners. It helps you build a solid foundation in Japanese vocabulary. The methods used in the book encourage active learning and retention. I recommend it to those who are serious about starting their Japanese language journey.

Great Resource
What sets this book apart is its structured approach. The author not only provides the essential vocabulary but also introduces a comprehensive method for learning. The inclusion of flashcards in the second half of the book is a fantastic feature. I found physically cutting out and organizing these cards helped me reinforce my memorization in a tactile way, making the learning process far more engaging than passive reading. The introduction to learning Japanese is particularly well-crafted, offering insights and strategies that clarify the complexities of the Japanese language. This foundational guidance helps alleviate the common anxiety many new learners face, allowing readers to approach their studies with confidence. Itâs evident that the author understands the challenges of language acquisition, and this support fosters a sense of security that encourages persistence. While the physical book is essential for the hands-on aspects of the program, the PDF version still offers clarity and an overview of what to expect. However, I recommend having the physical workbook on hand to maximize the benefits of cutting out and utilizing the flashcards.
