All my dreams are coming true. But some nightmares continue to lurk in the shadows.

I should be celebrating. Hell, I should be the happiest elf in the world. Unfortunately, I can’t revel in my successes when there’s a foul fiend who is relentlessly trying to lure me to his side. He won’t leave me in peace and he seems determined to plunge the country into chaos to get what he wants, using bloodshed, fear and malevolent magic.

Still, I’m no stranger to stubbornness. If I can turn the tables and become the hunter instead of the hunted, I might have a chance. The odds are stacked against me but I’m not alone in this fight – and I refuse to be anyone’s puppet.

Salted Sceptre is the fourth and final novel in The Thrill of the Hunt, an urban fantasy series set in Scotland and beyond. Expect thrilling adventure, deeply felt love and maybe, just maybe, a happy ending.

What I love most about Harper’s writing is her ability to take concepts that we think we know and completely flip them into something fresh and exciting. It’s a talent she showcases so brilliantly throughout this and all of her series. She masterfully blends heartfelt romance, edge-of-your-seat action, and the perfect dose of humor, making every moment feel alive and electric. The characters, especially our beloved Daisy, continue to evolve in ways that are so satisfying. She’s finally dealt with addiction and became even stronger than before. The romance feels organic and deeply emotional. Helen Harper’s ability to craft intense and yet tender moments amidst all the chaos is just incredible. Every twist and turn kept me hooked, and the stakes were higher than ever. The pacing is fast, and I found myself cheering, laughing, and holding my breath in equal measure.Helen Harper has cemented herself as a master of storytelling, and I can’t wait to see what she does next!

Only thing wrong is this is the last book.
I’ve thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and the whole series. I rarely give a 5 star, it’s usually reserved for series I would read again. This is one of those series. I’ve read most of Helen Harper’s series, and most of them get 5 stars, she’s that good an author. Keep on writing so I can keep on giving 5 stars and I’m really looking forward to the next series she’s given us a preview for.Daisy and Hugo finally have to deal with Aithar. He’s threatening her and all she loves. They manage to get in two treasure hunting adventures, and visit with an old friend before the end. I loved the history, the final result and how they will live their life from now on. I hope Amy gets a book or series in the future, and the love and support that Daisy gets is inspiring. Helen handled the addiction of Daisy well. Her growth of the series shows her strength and faith in those who supported her road to recovery. Thanks Helen, Daisy and Hugo, I enjoyed your series.

    The Salted Scepter
Daisy has a new treasure hunt and it is a life and death hunt. Daisy’s crazy violent fiend father has given her a choice join him or he will kill Daisy and all her friends. Now she is racing the clock for a lost scepter that might be the answer to her problem. Riveting conclusion to this series!

    Daddy dearest threatens all
What do you do when all you love is in danger? When your happy every after could be happy never after? When the most evil, amoral creature is your father and your name is Daisy, not LukeYou must read this book. The characters are compelling and the humor is sprinkled judiciously!!!Enjoy!!!

    Amazing Finale to this series!
I love all that Helen Harper writes. This finale i have been waiting for. And it was perfect. So much drama, pain, love and excitement to wrap up this series. I couldnt put it down. No spoilers from me, but just know that if you start it you wont be able to stop. You will root for the characters, cry with them, feel their emotions and root for them until that finale word!

What a great way to end the series!
I was trying to figure out what makes Helen’s books my favourites. There’s adventure and mystery and so much humour, I always know I’m going to have a good time. But also, in the middle of magic and mayhem there are moments of vulnerability so beautiful I feel like I’m seeing into the souls of the characters. In the end, I feel connected to all sorts of beings, including spiders and brownies, which is also something I never expected to say. This is all to say, this is, as always, an excellent book that sucked me in completely from the first page, took me on a high-stakes exhilarating adventure, made me laugh and cry, and made my heart explode. Another amazing series, and I will miss this world.

    Daddy Issues
I loved this series. My only complaint is that this is the final book. I’m going to miss the treasure hunting gang, their banter, and the misadventures they get into. After the excursion to the past and meeting her birth mother, Daisy decides it’s time to kick her addiction. Fortunately, she has Hugo, two brownies, and the Primes to help her. Things seem to be going well with her road to recovery, but daddy dearest isn’t finished with her yet. Athair rears his ugly head again in a most dramatic fashion (fiends certainly have a flair for the morbid dramatics). Daisy is going to embark on her most challenging hunt … find a way to stop Athair because the alternative isn’t an option. Daisy must use all her cunning and rely on the help of her friends to stop her father once and for all. If you haven’t started The Thrill of the Hunt series, you must! It’s a wonderfully fun read. It’s the urban fantasy version of National Treasure or Indiana Jones.

    Hijinks, High Stakes & Hilarity!
CW: villain tries to trigger a relapse*Helen gave me an early copy!!!!*I am such a sucker for this series! I’ve read most of Helen’s backlist but I think this series is so wonderful and tops the list (well, after the Fairy Godmother series). In the series finale, Daisy & co have to race to find a way to defeat Althair before he destroys everyone and everything she loves. This book was a phenomenal read: hijinks, high stakes, and hilarious comments from Esther created a glorious series finale. Plus… she gets help from a few unexpected sources ;)I am not someone who has personally experience substance dependence, but I think Helen does a beautiful job humanising the experience. Daisy is an addict and she will always be an addict, but that doesn’t mean she isn’t a powerful badass too. I really appreciate that Helen didn’t include some sort of magical cure for addiction– sometimes fantasy books create fantasy cures for such things and while it benefits the characters, it can be hurtful to readers. While Daisy’s reason for taking spider silk was magical, her treatment is very real.
