James G. Carlson –
An excellent debut collection of dark fiction
I had the pleasure of reading Jason Mecchi’s The Pale Sky of Night recently, and I really enjoyed the stories. This author has a knack for transforming ordinary things into extraordinary horrors — exploring old houses with friends, trick-or-treating, staying with distant family, a walk through a cemetery, an elderly neighbor, a work retreat, etc. Creatures, paranormal entities, and strange phenomena abound in what I hope is the first of many works to come by this writer.
