A simmering age gap romance from the author of The Brightest Light of Sunshine about a graduate student and a university professor who will do anything to keep their relationship professional…until their attraction for each other becomes too strong to deny.
She’s a rule follower. He’s a man who could ruin her reputation.
Lila Callaghan has two big problems. She’s been caught in an act of revenge she isn’t proud of, and the man she’s been avoiding for two years is the one who saw everything.
Reed Abner is more than a hotshot professor at Lila’s university. He’s a family friend, and Lila is only too happy to pretend he never saw her slash her cheating ex-boyfriend’s tire. Before this colossal lapse in judgment, Lila didn’t want to be associated with Reed at all, in fact, at the risk of other students and faculty thinking the popular professor was playing favorites.
Avoiding Reed is easy enough…until it isn’t. When Lila is suddenly desperate for an internship, he offers her a dream opportunity at the youth center he coordinates. This close to finishing her Master’s degree, she’d be foolish to turn it down. The only issue? Reed’s her supervisor.
Working in such close proximity to each other poses an even bigger problem. Reed proves to be an excellent mentor, but he’s awakened feelings in Lila she shouldn’t have.
Reed is her superior. He’s twelve years her senior. And as the burning desire between them grows, Lila wonders if falling for him will be her worst mistake yet.

This book?! How do I even begin to describe what this book made me feel? Lila and Reedâs story is truly a beautiful, heart-warming love story and the perfect ending to this family series. In âThe Deepest End of Loveâ follows our two main characters: Lila Callaghan and Dr Reed Abner. We first meet Lila in the epilogue of âThe Brightest light of sunshineâ as Cal and Grace daughter and as a small child in âThe darkest corner of the heartâ.In this third instalment we get to see Lila as a young and hardworking woman who is following her dream to graduate from her masters degree to become a counselor. Everything was going according to plan until she discovers her boyfriend is cheating on her, in a spur of a moment decision she decides her fastest way to revenge is slashing her exâs tires. The one person who witnessed her colossal lapse in judgment? No other than Dr Reed Abber, her motherâs colleague and the profesor she has been avoiding for the last two years. What happens when circumstances bring them together and a burning desire starts to grow between them? Youâll need to read to find out their story.Having read the whole Brightest Light I was so excited to read Lilaâs story, and Lisina did not disappoint. Lila and Reed have become my favourite couple in this series! The romance in this one was so well written, the pacing and slow burn kept me at the edge of my seat. But at the same time itâs a beautiful story exploring the depths of self-confidence and finding who you truly are. A journey of characters learning to advocate for themselves, healing from past traumas and finally believing in yourself.Loved seeing Lilia going from being insecure of herself and her achievements to finally believing in herself, advocating for her wants and becoming her own person without letting others dictate her life.Reed was everything I needed and more! His backstory absolutely broke me but seeing him grow and overcome his trauma absolutely warmed my heart. He was the perfect counterpart to Lilaâs.This book tied the series with a perfect bow. Loved reading small snippets of all these characters I have grown attached to. Specially the interaction between Cal and Reed! Those scenes had me grinning at my screen. This book can be read as a stand alone, but I highly encourage you to checkout the other books as it ties all the stories together.Thank you to NetGalley, Page & Vine and Lisina Coney for providing this copy for an honest review.Tropes:- Age gap (12 years): 24-36- Slow burn with spice- Master student & internship supervisor- Family friend- Forced proximity- Dual pov- Past trauma- Accidentally puppy dad

Slow burn romance
I was not aware that this book is #3 of a series when I started it, and must say that it would work as a standalone story as well. The Deepest End of Love is a contemporary romance that explores the complicated relationship between Lila Callaghan, a masterâs student, and Reed Abner, a charismatic professor and family friend. After an embarrassing run-in involving Lila’s impulsive act of revenge, she tries to avoid Reed as much as possible, failing miserably. To make matters worse, she’s eventually forced to be in close proximity to him as she gets an internship at the youth centre that he volunteers for and he becomes her supervisor. The story explores the topics of forbidden attraction, age gaps, and personal dilemmas as Lila battles her growing feelings for Reed navigating their professional relationship. It’s important to note that this is a slow burn, I would say that it takes 45-50% of the book before anything even happens between Lila and Reed – for this reason, I felt it was a bit too slow paced for my taste, but fans of slow burn romances will undoubtedly love it as the writing style is impeccable and there’s a lot of depth to the characters’ development and the tension building between them.

Professor/student, age gap romance
It took me a bit longer than anticipated to get through this book. There was a lot in the middle that didn’t need to be in there. The good parts for me were the first 1/4 and the last 1/4 of the book. There was some good in the middle with the youth center, and what the topics discussed were.

Sad for the series to end but it’s amazing
This is one of those series that I will forever love and really miss now that it’s over. This book was the perfect ending to an amazing series and while I’m sad it’s done, I’m also so happy I got to read these books in The Brightest Light series. I really connected with Reed and Lila and their desire to help children as youth counselors. The way they facilitated change in the lives of those children was so heartwarming and impactful. Reed was a top tier book boyfriend and such a sweetheart despite all of the things he has been through. Lila is so much like her mother, Grace, and I really resonated with her and her striving for perfection and her insecurities. Together, Reed and Lila really helped each other heal and were very clearly made for each other. The tension and banter and care for each other? Oh, it was so perfect. I really loved getting to see Cal, Grace, Maddie, and James again and it felt like coming home to family. I will seriously miss this series so very much because it is s special to me but I am really looking forward to Lisina Coney’s next book!

Sweet forbidden romance
Lila just needs to complete an internship to finish her youth counseling masters program, and is despairing when she misses most of the deadlines because of a cheating ex. Her parentsâ friend Reed offers her a spot at the youth center he works at, and he becomes her supervisor. As they get closer, they find it harder to stay away.Iâve been trying to expand my reading horizons, and this book was both my first contemporary adult romance and my first age gap romance as the leads are 12 years apart. I didnât know how I would feel about that, but it is handled so well in the book, the author did a great job!I related to Lila so much. A perfectionist, an overthinker, an âeasy childâ, who has completely devoted herself to working on her future. Sheâs never had a chance to figure out who she really is, and watching her do that during this story was lovely. The romance was so sweet and handled so delicately. They both are aware of the many reasons why it would be a bad idea to be together and try their hardest to resist. They have really healthy discussions about things which is nice to see. But theyâre just made for each other! My favorite part might have been the moments in the youth center. Theyâre both so wonderful with the kids, and the patience and sweetness they handled them with brought me to tears at points! If youâre looking for a sweet contemporary romance with so many different kinds of forbidden romance, check this out!!Thanks to the author and publisher.

A love on a deeper level
I didnât know anything other than tropes when I started reading this book. Iâll be honest the age gap is what drew me in! But this story kept me captivated all the way till the end.Lila and Reed are a forbidden love in the making. These two come together, in all the right ways, there was no other destiny for these two. I love that these twos connection is deeper than just physical attraction. They fall in love with the small things about each other and TRULY just sneaks up on them both. The ups and downs these two have to overcome come makes them both individually stronger on the other side. So them being together is a choice and feels like an even bigger moment for them.I love how this author gave the back story with the whole family enough to understand the interconnections of their lives. As well as understanding both of theirs passions for their lives work itâs a huge part of who they each are. They are both passionate about mental health with children and without being overloaded and inundated in the weeds of it all, the author is an excellent job giving the balance of enough information but not overwhelming. Iâll be honest there were parts I got sucked into wanting to know more of the understandings of it all! Thatâs how easily she made the information understandable and relatable.
