In this highly anticipated sequel to the New York Times bestselling Better Than the Movies, Wes and Liz struggle to balance their feelings for each other with the growing pains of being a college student.

For a few beautiful months, Wes had his dream girl: strong-willed girl-next-door Liz. But right as the two were about to set off to UCLA to start their freshman year together, tragedy struck. Wes was left dealing with the fallout, which ultimately meant losing Liz in the process.

Flash forward months and months later and Wes and Liz find themselves in college, together. In a healthier place now, Wes knows he broke Liz’s heart when he ended things, but he is determined to make her fall back in love with him.

Wes knows Liz better than anyone, and he has a foolproof plan to win her back with the rom-com worthy big gestures she loves. Only…Liz will have none of it. Wes has to scheme like a rom-com hero to figure out how to see her. Even worse, Liz has a new friend…a guy friend.

Still, Wes won’t give up, adapting his clever plans and going hard to get Liz’s attention and win back her affection. But after his best efforts get him nowhere, Wes is left wondering if their relationship is really over for good.

    A sweet & emotional read 🫶🏼

I knew going into reading this that something happened that threw a rock into Wes & Liz’s relationship. Which broke my heart to think about but reading this story and seeing how everything played out, just broke me all over again. This story deals with grief and life after loss. Wes struggles with his relationship with someone who passed away. He had everything going for him. He just started college with his best friend/girlfriend, he was set to play college baseball and most of all he was so happy. Unfortunately, life threw him a curve ball and he was forced to take a detour to his happy ending. Now it’s two years later and he is determined to win back the love of his life. However, he was not expecting her to have a boyfriend.Liz gave up on all of her hopeless romantic notions. Real life love is nothing like it is in the movies. She learned that the hard way. Now her ex is back and she doesn’t know how to deal with that. Her best idea is to fake date her friend and hope her heart doesn’t get trampled on a second time by her high school love.Wes is still such a supreme book boyfriend. He had to go through so much to get back to college and all I wanted was for him to get his happy ending. Liz did what she could to protect her heart, but Wes was determined to find that romance loving girl he grew up with.”𝘛𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘯𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘣𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘺𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘦𝘭𝘴𝘦 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘮𝘦. I know that might be a turnoff for some people, but this is definitely not a love triangle! Liz and her friend have a completely platonic relationship. 💛If you loved 𝐁𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐌𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐬, you definitely have to check out 𝐍𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐋𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐌𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐛𝐲 𝐋𝐲𝐧𝐧 𝐏𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫!𝘛𝘳𝘰𝘱𝘦𝘴:💞 𝘚𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘥 𝘊𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘙𝘰𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦⚾️ 𝘉𝘢𝘴𝘦𝘣𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘙𝘰𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦🫶🏼 𝘓𝘪𝘧𝘦 𝘈𝘧𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘓𝘰𝘴𝘴💔 𝘈𝘯𝘵𝘪-𝘙𝘰𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘍𝘔𝘊✨ 𝘍𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥 𝘍𝘢𝘮𝘪𝘭𝘺💋 𝘚𝘵𝘦𝘢𝘮𝘺 𝘒𝘪𝘴𝘴𝘦𝘴🤭 𝘊𝘭𝘰𝘴𝘦𝘥 𝘋𝘰𝘰𝘳 𝘙𝘰𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦

    Such a Cute Story!
How could this possibly be my first Lynn Painter book? It certainly won’t be my last that’s for sure. This books with its references to movies and music all had me invested in the story even more. This book has Wes and Liz (or Lib) who were childhood friends turned sweethearts but after Wes’ father passed away, Wes had to take on the responsibilities of home and had to leave UCLA and his baseball career and sadly, decided to leave Lib also as he didn’t want her to lose herself while he spiraled down this path.Fast forward two years and Wes comes back to his baseball career as a freshman at UCLA again and Lib after seeing him is determined not to give him the time of day. But, with so many obstacles but also reminders how long can Lib steer clear of Wes.This movies was truly a slow burn and there were times when I was just like alright already let’s get on with it. But the slow burn made the rest of the journey that much more enjoyable.I loved the references as I mentioned to movies and music which made the storyline that much more interesting as well as the group of characters that were Wes’ teammates and friends and Liz’ tribe. While this was a sweet, clean romance the way the feelings of love, grief, longing were all so clearly portrayed in Lynn’s words. I could almost picture the story playing out right in front of me.This won’t be my last Lynn Painter book that is for sure. I’ll be reading her backlist and anxiously waiting for her next book!

    It was good
For a few months, Liz and Wes had it all. They went from enemy neighbors to deliriously in love and were so happy together. But as the pair left to start at UCLA, Wes’s life came crumbling down. Left to sort out the fallout, Wes had no choice but to let Liz go or risk pulling her down with him. Now, a few years later, Wes is in a good place and is ready to start over. He’s back at UCLA, back on the baseball team, but more importantly, he’s ready to win back his girl. Wes knows he broke Liz’s heart, so he’s prepared to take a page out of the romance movies Liz loves so much and win her back with a grand gesture. But Liz is having none of it, and worse yet, she seems to be dating another guy. Wes has come too far to get deterred, but Liz rebuffs all of his advances, leaving Wes to wonder if he’s missed his chance with his dream girl for good.Honestly, I was very conflicted when I heard about this one. On one hand, I was so excited to revisit these characters because I loved BTTM so much. But on the other, the first book worked so well that I didn’t think it needed a sequel. Unfortunately, I stand by my latter thoughts. Admittedly, it was fun to see these characters again, but they were missing the spark that made me fall in love with them in the first place. Both Wes and Liz felt like different characters to me. I guess you can chalk that up to them growing up and maturing, but I missed the lighthearted playfulness they had. Whereas the first book felt bubbly and bright, this was heavy and dealt with tough topics, such as grief and anxiety. Despite not meeting my expectations, I’m still glad I read it, but I wish the first book stayed a standalone.
