When a devastating injury threatens Lex Bennet’s dream of playing in the women’s professional basketball league, her world is turned upside down. Despite the setback, Lex is unexpectedly drafted by the new expansion team in Boston. Her jubilation is short-lived, however, when she finds herself on the same roster as Eva Montgomery, her long-time college rival and the woman responsible for her injury.
Once adversaries on the court, Lex and Eva must navigate their new dynamic as teammates. As they confront their past and strive to find common ground, unresolved emotions and an undeniable attraction simmer between them, becoming increasingly difficult to ignore.
For Eva, the pressure of professional sports is compounded by her struggle with coming out. Her evolving relationship with Lex—from fierce adversaries to something more complicated—adds layers of tension and uncertainty.
Can they overcome their past and build a future together, both on and off the court? With the scrutiny of fame threatening to expose their relationship, will Eva find the courage to embrace a future with Lex? And will Lex’s support be enough to guide them toward happiness?
Old rivals, new teammates—will their unresolved past lead to love or disaster?

Enjoyed reading every page of this story. The main characters are so good and the basketball setting will have you cheering from the stands.

I always enjoy anything written by Eliza Lentzski⦠Winter Jacket is in my top ten favourite books of all time, but Hoops and Heartstrings is damn close. I fell in love with Eva and Lexi, their friendship and developing chemistry was so well balanced against the backdrop of pressures that come from being professional athletes and role models. Towards the end I was so invested in the game I was literally holding my breath waiting for the ball to fall through the hoop. An enjoyable rollercoaster of emotions, frustrations and love. Donât miss it, itâs one to read over and over. Hopefully we will get a sequel too.

fun sports romance
I really enjoyed this light but steamy read with no real moment of despair. I wish there was an epilogue to see whatâs next.

Another Great Book
I love the play between the main characters. The give and take. The support. Great enemies to lovers book. I would love to read more about these MCs. Amazing work.

Such a sweet story!
Obviously it’s a very current storyline with the wnba but the MCs were believable and extremely likable! The author wrote wonderful characters with depth in such a short timeline, definitely worth the read.

Still worth 400 pages!
Lentzski is a fantastic writer. Even her average books are much better than other sapphic authors. This book ended up in the average class of hers but still worth the read. The build up was nice but then flipped very suddenly. After that there was a lot of quick intimacy. Appreciated Lex’s bedroom preferences but not the immediate assumption that something terrible must have happened for it to be that way. Their relationship was nice but due to lack of communication seemed unnecessarily superficial. Loved the no third act breakup and the ending was refreshing and lovely. Close to being great but ended up just being good.

Lentzski scores, again
Lentzski didn’t shoot from the 3-point line with this one. She shot it from half-court. I’ve never been disappointed by any of Lentzski stories. I don’t expect I ever will be. Minimal angst. I like it that way. Characters were described eloquently. You won’t see “chocolate, caramel, coffee.” People are shades of color, not a Snickers bar. I’m so glad she didn’t go for the food comparison route. She obviously has done her research in the sport. I don’t care that this is a trope. Great stories come from tropes. How you express the journey is what defines a good trope from an eye-roll trope. This is a well-written book. She wrote a dissertation; of course her stories are going to be well written.

Hoops and Heartstrings
Eliza Lentzski gave us a fabulous book. I loved the rival to friends to lovers aspect. The chemistry was outstanding. I enjoyed the angst by outside forces, more than the MCs causing it itself. The secondary characters were well developed. They added depth to the story.I am a fan of this authors books, and I look forward to more in the future.
