What price would you pay for fame?

Following a convention in the Scottish Highlands, eight social media influencers vanish without a trace, leaving their followers–and families–in a state of shock, and the police clueless as to their whereabouts.

And then, the livestreams begin.

Broadcast live from their squalid underground cells, the young influencers are forced into a sadistic battle for survival.

With each livestream, their captor pits them against each other in a twisted competition for likes. The influencer with the fewest positive reactions faces a gruesome end–live on camera.

As the likes increase and the death toll rises, DCI Jack Logan and his team must traverse both the Scottish wilderness and the darkest corners of the internet to try and save the remaining captives.

But how do you catch a killer who is always one click ahead?

A Killer of Influence is the 20th book in the multi-million selling DCI Jack Logan series from internationally bestselling Scottish crime author, JD Kirk.

I have read every book JD has ever written. This book is as always another beauty. It was great to have Hoon and Heather and Tammy Jo (other Detectives) make their way briefly into the plot. I go from nail biting suspense and wondering what is going to happen to fits of laughter in minutes. Which may sound a bit odd but it’s actually not because the plot is so unpredictable you need a bit of comic relief that only JD can give you in his books.. Thank you again for another awesome read, I cannot wait for the next one.

Another amazing fast paced thriller, totally drawn into the story. Just couldn’t stop reading once started. Eagerly waiting for more of Jack Logan books.

What a treat. This one had the entire cast in it, plus cameos from Grimm and Kett (maybe Louise’s Ryan could have had a mention?). Brilliant edge-of-your-seat writing, serious, humorous and bizarre in turn. I really appreciate the fact that JD writes full-length and largely standalone stories, bucking the trend of those ridiculously short ‘novellas’ ending in cliffhangers that are so beloved of mainly American authors. He also has an excellent proof-reader so that I never get pissed off about consistently poor grammar and spelling, or have a meltdown when characters insist on pouring (sic) over maps and documents! Can’t wait for the next one.

I laughed, I cried, I sat on the edge of my seat with All of JD Kirks’ books. Waiting for more. Still don’t like DI Filson!!!

Book 19 and 20 made an excellent story; the story was enthralling and I wasn’t able to solve the mystery! The characters are so much fun and the dialogue is wonderful; I found myself laughing out loud often.Tell me this is not the last book!If you are looking for a fun series, start these books! You won’t be disappointed!

    Disappointing
Unlike previous offerings from JDK, especially in this series, this one really dragged on (despite being pretty horrific), and I found myself actually nodding off from time to time. Surely hoping this was a one-off …

    Brilliant, edge of seat thriller
JD Kirk has done it again. Logan’s close and extended family/colleagues are all involved and on form. Again, so many laughs in such a serious crime thriller. A story with a 30-year fuse, about trust, family, and friendship coupled with mass kidnapping and murder.

    Great read
I hated for it to end! One of the best in the series. Be sure to read the preceding book first. Love these characters; twists and turns were fun and surprise ending. Now I have to wait for the next one…

    The best so far!
I loved every page! I’ve read all of the books in this series, so the characters have become old friends. The writing is brilliant, as usual. The plot is twisty and satisfyingly complex. Lots of drama, and a bit of humor to keep things moving along. I needed a minute after the ending! Can’t wait for the next book in this series. The spinoff books featuring two of the characters (Bob Hoon and Heather Filson) are just as well written and do a great job of making formerly unlikeable characters more understandable and even likeable!

    Excellent
I confess that I had to go back and do a quick reread of the previous book in order to remember enough to understand this one. So, no, this book does not work as a standalone. The pair could, I suppose, but much better to read the entire series. What you will find is excellent mysteries with well-reasoned complex plots and rich characters who acquire new layers in each successive book. In this book, for example, Tyler, who began as the fool, has his big moment of competence and self-confidence and an unexpected part of Logan’s past is revealed. As the characters grow, the series just seems to get better and better. I always read a new release as soon as it comes out, and I look forward to many more.

The best book in the series!
Logan’s past comes back to haunt him while investigating a serial killer and also the kidnapping of several young internet influencers. Lots of twists and turns, and a very satisfying ending. Bob Hoon shows up, and although too much of him is hard for me to take, his character is used just enough in this book. I would definitely recommend. I actually found myself imagining different endings when I didn’t have time to finish the last 20%, and I wasn’t even close.

  12. Marianna Thompson

    Intricate and Scary
This was a taut and engaging mystery. Very character driven. I thought it was curtains for several members of the ensemble as careers and lives careened around finding a mad killer. A great read!

I Love this Series Way Too Much!
It can be so scary, sad, then funny, sentimental and sweet. I absolutely love all the characters, even Hoon and especially Ben, Tyler, and Taggart! This series just gets better and better! My only complaint is I wish the books could go on longer because I don’t want them to end and I wish the next one would come out sooner. However, “JD Kirk” knows what he is doing so I’ll be patient for the next of what I’m sure will amazing book in the series. But please hurry back Logan and the gang, I miss you already!
